Honstly, any chances that the Rockets are currently showcasing Lin to the Lakers for a potential trade for Pau Gasol? Think it would be a good trade for the Rockets and Lin himself. The only problem is that the Lakers might not be willing to take on Lin's contract.
I think if the Rocket put that on the table, the Lakers would do it in a heartbeat given their current problems at the pg position and the question of Nash's age and how he will perform once he comes back. Having said that, I doubt it would happen given what Morey said recently.
http://newsfixnow.com/2012/12/21/youve-heard-of-linsanity-but-have-you-heard-of-lin-santa-ty/ You’ve heard of Linsanity… but have you heard of Lin-SANTA-ty? HOUSTON – In the true spirit of what the holiday season is all about, 6 foot 3 Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin hosted a shopping spree for disadvantaged kids at the Toys’R'Us on Old Spanish Trail. The spree was kicked off with breakfast for the 25 kids participating. Always a team player, Lin recruited his parents, twoo brothers and sister-in-law to lend a helping hand. After the meal came the main event as Lin led the children down the toy filled aisles. Each of the kids had a $100 giftcard supplied by the basketball player himself. The children were selected by Rockets Charity Partners from families who needed some assistance during this holiday season. So forget about “Lin-sanity”… Lin “Santa”ty is coming to town. By the way, I want that t-shirt.
This is definitely happening. It's no coincidence that they're running more plays for him in the past few games so he can excel and increase this trade value. As he averages 20/8 in the next two months up to the trade deadline, the Lakers are going to do anything to get him and Houston will make out like bandits. A starting lineup of Douglas Harden Parsons Gasol Asik would be very hard to stop.
That was exactly what happened. Just because you guys were not observant enough to see it, doesn't mean I made it up. IIRC, this happened in the first quarter the first time Lin was subbed for TD against the sliders. Rewatch the game. Post a clip. Everyone can judge for themselves.
I don't get this Lin-for-Gasol rumor at all. I'm sure the Lakers would love to have Lin. Even when Nash returns, Lin would still be a great back-up when Nash sits. BUT, why would the Rockets even entertain such a trade? What's a rebuilding team with the youngest roster in the NBA gonna do with a 32-year-old Gasol? And, who's gonna be our PG if Lin's traded? Douglas who plays defense but can't make plays, or Machado who makes plays but can't play defense? Or do you play Harden 48 minutes every game?
Don't worry, if Parsons goes broke he can stay at Lin's place. As long as Lin is on the team, he can also potentially get an endorsement from Chinese companies in the future and get his big pay day from the Rockets later.
