I think the injuries is what mainly got him...His shot clearly wasn't the same after them....

And i think he gave up, when realising that he was giving his all, but he knew his team wasn't going anywhere because they just weren't talented, and he let it get to him...but ya know what? its true...his team in orlando and the early rocket years just weren't good enough.

If he had the luck of being on teams like wade, jordan, kobe, there is no doubt it my mind he would have won champiionships just like them...

His attitude was his main fall, besides the injuries of course....he tended to point the finger and give up, which is why ppl hate on him.

That being said, talent wise he could have been in the jordan/kobe class if he didn't get injured.

You're making a fool out of youself here. Tmac in his prime was a future hall of famer type player. Gorge Karl, Magic Johnson and few others called him the mst complete offensive player since Jordan at his peak. You're mindless agenda driven dribble is utterly stupid to say the least.

Don't think Harden has the physical gifts Mergady had in his prime, but we shall see.

Prime Tmac was special and looked primed to be an all time great. The problem is he lacked the passion of an all time great plus his injuries issues further slowed him down. Harden I feel definitely has ability to help get this franchise back into contention with the right pieces around him. Like others have said in this thread, Tmac as time went by just was sooo frustrating and never really led any of his teams anywhere. Harden in his young career has already been key part of two deep playoff runs and other than Finals last year was clutch. I feel Harden has potential to be a bigger winner the Tmac and because of it will probably be seen as having better career.

Mcgrady put up great stats but his defense was never any good. Kobe and Duncan were better no question. In his prime you weren't gonna score on Kobe.

You never watched him play have you?

He was primarily a defensive stopper early on his career and has remained a good defender until late in his careers when both his body and mind started falling apart.

Give me a break, how can Tmac take credit for that 22 game win streaks?
Rockets were losing a lot of games with Tmac playing tons of bad isos.
Then, he was injured. It was Yao and other Rockets played team basket ball to get that great winning streak going for a while. I dont remember when Tmac joined them, probably at game 14. He just rode the tail of that great winning streak. How can you give credit to him while most of that time he was probably lying in his bed to rest his back?

    I don't know...

At 23yrs old, Tracy McGrady was leading the league in scoring, with 32 ppg while dishing out 5.5 apg, and collecting 6.5 rpg. Not mention physically, we were talking about a guy who was 6'8 w/t a 7'2 wingspan and had a 40 + inch vertical. The guy was a physical freak.

In his prime Orlando years, the guy was all world, one of the biggest talents the NBA has ever seen. Sadly, injuries, motor issues, along with a fragile mentality decimated a player who had a chance to be the face of his generation.

I'm pretty sure Yao got injured in the middle of the streak. I also remember T-mac played in 21 of 22 games of the streak .

I can bet my house on that Tmac did not play in 21 of 22, most likely 10 games of it. I watched everyone Rockets game that year. I am getting old, don't remember if Yao got injured or not in the middle of that winning streak.

Dec. 19, McGrady limped noticeably with a sore left knee and was replaced for the rest of the game.

He missed the next 11 games.

HOUSTON -- Houston Rockets star Tracy McGrady left Wednesday night's game against the Orlando Magic with a sore left knee.

McGrady missed 10 of 11 shots and was limping noticeably in the first half. He didn't come out with his team for the second half. He bruised his left knee in Saturday's loss to Dallas and went 5-of-18 from the field in that game.

McGrady said it wasn't his choice to come out of Wednesday's game.

"Doctors, coaches and trainers saw how I was moving out there and decided to shut me down," McGrady said. "Playing on one leg like that, when you're putting so much pressure on that leg, the leg that feels good, there is a chance you can injure that leg. And that basically is why they decided to take me out of the game."

McGrady missed two games in November because of a strained right elbow. He's been wearing a protective sleeve since returning. He also left a Dec. 10 game against Philadelphia with a sprained right ankle.

The Rockets play at Denver on Thursday night. Houston coach Rick Adelman wasn't sure if McGrady would play.

"I have no idea where we go from here on that," Adelman said. "We haven't discussed if it will be game to game. He practiced a little bit (Tuesday) and it didn't seem any better today. I'll have to listen to what the medical staff says and go from there."

Mcgrady is clearly seen playing in almost all of the streak in this video.
