Jeremy does deserve to be in the All-star game if voted in, since it is the fans who are voting for their favorite players, and favorite players are not necessarily the best players, though best players are most likely to be fans' favorites. Jemery has a big fan base, and I won't be surprised if he is voted in. Nothing to be ashamed of, and nothing to do with deserving or not deserving. As a matter of fact, the organizer seems willing to facilitate a result of this kind. From the news release on the first round all-star results, we can find a piece of interesting information, i.e., "For the first time ever, NBA fans can vote via social media networks, including Facebook and Twitter, and Sina Weibo and Tencent QQ in China."
You LOH's just getting rediculous !!! How you not want to see a Rocket player during a Houston all-star game ? This compares with the national election, Just because you don't like Obama, and how the people voted, doesn't mean we would abolish the constitution having the Congress deciding on precedency, would you ?????
You guys need to come to the reality that Lin and Rubio are going to be the starting backcourt of the All-Star game for the West.
Yes, comparing an NBA All Star game is exactly like voting for President of the United States... As of now, Lin doesn't deserve it over Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, James Harden, Russell Westbrook, OJ Mayo, Tony Parker, hell, even Damian Lillard.
Seriously, if the AS game is based on stats, there would be no need for a vote. It's a popularity contest!! Close and lock thread please. Also, it's in Houston!!!
Wtf is going on in this thread? How can someone say that Lin deserves to be an All Star? The reason why (even as a Rockets fan) I don't want him in the game is simply because he doesn't deserve it. It's a joke. It takes away from the little integrity the league has if he's voted in.
You cast your vote as many times as you want to, and let others do their own. The final vote count decides the "deserving" part. That's how the game is played. If you don't like the rule, then don't play. I never vote for all stars, because I am just not that interested in that show. However, I wouldn't be "offended" even if fans want to see Greg Smith starting by voting him in, especially on a Rockets forum.
All-Star might have meant something back in the day, but now more than ever it's about popularity and it's strictly dunking. I remember some defense was played back in the day. The only reason I don't want Lin in there is because he doesn't add much other then some regular dunks. Rafer Alston for instance would've been nice only because he had great street moves and thus would've provided more entertainment value. Jeremy doesn't provide that but the 'hate' or insisting Lin shouldn't be in is ridiculous coming from a Rockets board. Hey, we haven't had an all-star in a few years, let alone 2 (last time 2006 / 2007) so be happy!
If fans voted him in, it's all good. There're more controversial cases before, and will be more in the future. People should spend more time criticizing the 'backdoor' trade getting Gasol to Lakers, ridiculous 'who knows what happened' trade sending DH to Lakers, suspicious #1 picks to CAVs and Hornets, the ridiculous union of top2 players Lebron/Wade(at that time) and another top player(Bosh) at their prime age, rule changes in the last decade to unfairly limit bigmen and promote guard/wing players... It's just a game, and don't be fooled.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA_All-Star_Game Its a game where THE BEST of the East play THE BEST of the WEST!
It is entertainment, Dudes... You vote whatever you want, and don't tell me how and what the hell I sould be doing. Don't like the results ? Just too bad, get grip in life... Vote all you want, but a true HOUSTON ROCKet fan will absolutely vote all 5 starting of his own home team... Shame on you, fake, phoney rocket fans !!!!
Right, it's what the fans consider the best. There're cases before when players doesn't play well or injured still get in(becasue fans decide who are the best based on either reputation or recent performance).
Wow, you look like a fool. You're exactly what's wrong with the voting process. The only players I vote for are Harden and Asik. I guess that makes me a fake Rockets fan?
To take it a touch further, I find the voting and watching the results as they update them to be far more entertaining than the game itself. The game is a lark.
Actually, I hope Lin doesn't get voted in. This is his first year playing major minutes and with McHale's high pace system, he would be better off using the time to rest.
