solution simple, lin. Shoot the ball 17 times. make at least 7 of those and It will trick the coaches and the fans' eye ball tests.
I agree. He has to improve his jumper shot. I worried every time I saw he shot a ball. Even Rondo has improved this season. If he can improve a little more, rockets will benefit a lot because he will touch more balls.
What I have noticed is he doesn't set his feet right and he bobs (dips the ball down before pulling up into his shot) a lot on set shots. He should learn from novak  <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/v7MZWoyrCmo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I hate to double post, but a quick note - Doing the one-two step that Novak does helps reduce the amount of time it takes to get a shot off and helps with a shooter's balance going into the shot. I started doing this on my set shots and I noticed that I can shoot quicker, farther, and more accurately than before. Might just be me, but this is a pretty fundamental basketball technique that I somehow missed for ages.
Response Surprised Lin didn't learn from Novak when he was his teammate. To me, Novak has the best shooting technique.
Say Lin actually learns from Novak, It may turn out to be better or it can be worse. It is not that easy to change. It is like changing one's golf swing. It may end up worse than the original golf swing even the original golf swing was incorrect or weird looking. There is no right golf swing but a standard golf swing someone claims it to be. Fields is a bad to worse shooting change example. K. Martin is good one to follow without a standard shooting format. My 2 cents.
In that bball break down thread I posted. What he was saying was what I was saying for sometime now. They need to increase Lins %Time as the PNR ball handler & decrease James Harden to get Jeremy going more. As they decrease Harden's %time as the PNR ball handler they can subsequently increase his %time spotting up & on cuts. This by its very nature would decrease lins %time as the spot up shooter. They should model it after how the Knicks handle there backcourt with Felton running the PNR the most & Kidd spot up shooting a lot. When Felton struggles they take him off the ball & put Kidd on. If they did it this way Lin would be more effective, harden would still get his & the Rockets would still win games. Benefit is that we would have our backcourt playing up to there potential more & I think it would also make the team harder to defend. Something Morey said on the radio was that Lin & harden have a take turn mentality over a integrated mentality & he is right. They both take turns making everyone else on the roster better. They rarely ever make each other better. In fact outside of the first two games & the Knicks game those were the only three times I saw them make each other better. I think in those three games they were playing off of one another, setting screens for one another etc. Even the Jazz game & the Raptors game they both scored well but they didn't really make each other better. That is a shame because I think they would be more lethal & it would facilitate the chemistry process.
How is this uninformed if ive watched every single rockets game this season and noticed that lin has trouble finishing? i would say that your post is therefore uninformed buddy. Also, i referred to the idea that he needs to convert on a higher percentage of teardrops. I have looked at figures with lin's fg% and he was 20%, 0% and 43% from the left, middle and right areas respectively. These are percentages for a few feet from the basket where slose shots and teardrops are attempted. And dont call me lazy if i didnt do something that i was not required to do. I stated my opinion while you flasely accused me of basing my opinion on a single game or miss that lin did. Overrall, Lin has vastly underpreformed for his position on the team as well as his contract and i want him to get better. My statements criticizing him all had reasons and even lof can agree that he has been on the lower end of pgs in the league (although he is finally starting to pick it up).
Well for one thing, both Dwill AND westbrook are averaging more assits per game. Wesbtrook and dwill if they are not having a good shooting night, are not worthless because they still have the ability to change the game at any moment. Therefore, team defences still have to respect the player. Lin on the other hand, can be totally factored out by a defence if he is not preforming well. Therefore, your statement that they are worthless of they can score is completely wrong. And i find it hard to belive that you disagree wihtthe notion that lin is not a great defender that has trouble fighting through screens and recovering and that he has stuggled with his teardrop.
First of all, your opinion is your opinion, I respect that. But I'm gonna have to disagree with pretty much every one of your points. Lin is not worthless when not scoring, in fact quite the opposite! He is and has known to be an elite all around guy as so many of Morey's tweets suggest. He is often playmaking, penetrating, rebounding, deflecting, and causing a disturbance on the defensive end. In many games this year, the defenses were centered around stopping guard penetration, both Harden and Lin's. Here's the thing about what you seem to be doing. It's been talked about a lot on this forum and it's called confirmation bias. I know you "see" Lin's trouble fighting through screens but if you observe unfairly at all guards in the league, or even look closer in our own team at harden and TD, and you'll notice that they all are slowed by screens and picks as that is what a screen is supposed to do. In fact, all opposing pg's receive pick and rolls, and when picked properly, you are forced by definition to trail from behind. Recently however, Lin has actually been learning the technique of jamming up the roller just before the moment of the pick negating the momentum necessary to make the pnr effective as some of the veteran defenders have been doing. He's getting tons better at guarding the pnr as his defensive instincts are excellent. And if you don't see that his defensive instincts are a plus rather than a negative, than you are not "seeing" things correctly.
"Lin I see that you're getting to the rim at will and absolutely destroying these Sixers. I think you should be benched for the rest of the game in favor of Douglas"
Jlin needs to continue to be aggressive as he did the past two games. **** the jumper just ask for picks on every possession and drive drive drive
