That's generally why people post videos without any comment.... The eagle is barely flapping it's wings right when it picks up the child. It would need to be flapping like crazy to lift that heavy child. And the child looks weightless when he drops it.
Well, not sure if this is the right video to dispute it but it does look old enough that they wouldn't be able to fake it back then. But look at this video where an eagle carries off a goat. It doesn't have to flap its wings much at all. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/8xz_LI5TLTY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
in this video the eagle isn't trying to fly away, it's merely gliding. not much flapping is needed for a downward trajectory.
But eventually he flies up without much flapping. You can also say that the eagle in the OPs video has more momentum and that allows him to lift the baby a couple of feet. You can also say that part of the reason why he dropped the baby was that he didn't flap, etc.
Is it really possible for an eagle with that kind of a wingspan to flap that much harder? It's not a hummingbird we are talking about here, there is only so much flapping that can take place when your wings are that long.
it's actually a defense strategy employed by humans. mom: kid, do you want to be fking snatched up by an eagle? otherwise put that veggies aside and eat this cheesecake instead.
It's been filmed lately that they can sometimes snatch up adults as well, depending on their size.... Spoiler
If that kid didn't have the jacket and excess clothing and the eagle got it's talons around the babies bare skin it would have been all over.
