    Magic are said to be exploring idea of trading JJ Redick. Some other names NBA GMs have mentioned as trade chips

    (potentially, anyway) as the wheeling-and-dealing season gets underway with the passing of Dec. 15 -- which is when players who signed contracts over the summer are eligible to traded.

    Let's take a look, with contract expiration year in parentheses:

    * J.J. Redick, SG, Magic (2013)

    * Josh Smith, PF, Hawks (2013)

    * Devin Harris, PG, Hawks (2013)

    * MarShon Brooks, SG, Nets (2014)

    * Gerald Henderson, SG/SF, Bobcats (2014)

    * Anderson Varejao, PF/C, Cavaliers (2014)

    * Anderson Varejao, PF/C, Cavaliers (2014)

    * Daniel Gibson, G, Cavaliers (2013)

    * Shawn Marion, F, Mavericks (2014)

    * Corey Brewer, SG/SF, Nuggets (2013)

    * Anthony Randolph, PF, Nuggets (2015)

    * Charlie Villanueva, PF, Pistons (2014)

    * Al Jefferson, C/PF, Jazz (2013)

    * Paul Millsap, F, Jazz (2013)

    * Alec Burks, SG, Jazz (2014)

    * Derrick Williams, F, Timberwolves (2014)

    * Eric Bledsoe, PG, Clippers (2014)

    * Ersan Ilyasova, PF, Bucks (2016)

    * Patrick Patterson, PF, Rockets (2014)

    * Jose Calderon, PG, Raptors (2013)

    Jazz are going to sign either Milsap or Al. So they're shopping both around and taking the best offer on one and signing the other.

    POR out: Aldridge
    POR in: Millsap, Burks, Morris
    - LA may be more valuable on the market than in play at the moment. They get a solid expiring replacement in Millsap, and a potential future SG in Burks. Morris provides depth on a team that needs it.

    LAC out: Bledsoe, '13 1st, Turiaf
    LAC in: Patterson, T.Jones
    - Bledsoe is valuable, but with the PGs they already have, his value on the market is enticing to test. Patterson and Jones bring a new look to a frontcourt lacking depth.

    UTA out: Millsap, Burks
    UTA in: Lin, HOU '13 1st, LAC '13 1st, Turiaf
    - Mo is playing well at the moment, but he's not the PG of the future. Lin provides a different game, and would be a nice counterpoint now, and piece for the future. Millsap is expendable with all their bigs, and 2 picks are valuable for this team.

    HOU out: Lin, Patterson, T.Jones, Morris, '13 1st
    HOU in: Aldridge, Bledsoe
    - This would give us a legit complement to Harden in LA, and a fantastic 2-way athlete/PG in Bledsoe. We may have to give up another pick to pull something like this off.

    Asik - G.Smith
    Aldridge - Motiejunas - White
    Parsons - Delfino
    Harden - Cook
    Bledsoe - Douglas - Machado

    Any trade that occurs should simplify our rotation at PF.

    Hell, we have a young stud in the making in Terrence Jones. Maybe we're showcasing Pitty Pat and Morris so as not to lose Jones, but it's frustrating to play Ppat and usually see those "-21" numbers under his +/- for the game.

    I'd take one of these not-quite kinda-sorta All Star PF's (Aldridge, Millsap). But I do believe Morey and Les are thinking as much about ticket sales and TV appearances as they are wins, and that means a loooooooooong wait for us.

    EDIT: I'd still say aim for Al Horford, a 4/5 who'd make a difference for us, while getting some cap space for Atlanta to steal DH12 and CP3 from the L.A. teams.

    If Aldridge was available for Millsap+Burks+Morris, Utah should just skip Houston and get Aldridge themselves. Millsap+Kanter for Aldridge? I'd love it for Utah.

    Aside from that, Houston can't trade the pick. The best Houston can do with the 2013 pick right now is offer to swap picks (on condition that Atlanta doesn't get it).

    I don't think any of those teams would do it, tbh. I like this idea though, it's a huge win of a trade, and other than trading the pick that Houston can't trade, all of these are at least imaginable.

    I wonder if ORL would take Delfino and Cook +/- future 2nd rounder for Redick...

    Beasley is not the answer here, & I don't even know the question. He is bad news, do not want. Beasley is why Morris would "fit" on their team so well. Beasley ~ Morris. MAYBE they could find home for him else were. The protection would matter but I would not let it kill a deal. They should have several other teams picks, to pick from. Marshall could be something later on and Frye can spead the floor and block a shot or two. We take Frye on for the pick BUT he can still play a bit, too.

    The Pistions do not have much invested in this player at all (a late 2nd total). It may be a BIG WIN and nice "fit" for them IF Royce White can pull it together. For their 3rd string center they pulled of the street over the summer & wing not getting any playing time.

    Burks looked like a "STAR" / soild player coming out of school --> No playing time because he can't shoot. The Jazz need shooters (spacing) for their big to work --> he doesn't fit. BUT Delfino would (plus he just looks the part - j*zz).

    A small move like this would help keep Cousins a King for life. We may strike gold in the lotto.

    Just thoughts.

    Orlando is a team that the Rockets could definitely take advantage of at the trade deadline.

    The Rockets can take on the salary of Reddick & McRoberts for Toney Douglas, and take the Orlando Magic from a team with a 84 mil dollar payroll to a team paying 77 mil.

    Thats more than 14 MILLION IN LUX TAX SAVINGS!! for Orlando just in this one deal. All that just for trading expiring for expiring, and Houston still staying under the salary cap.

    For Houston's troubles they should be able to get a decent draft pick.

    -Only problem here- Royce White and his Butt taking up a roster spot. Either him or Machado would need to be waived before a deal like this could be processed.

    Orlando isn't in the luxury tax and I think a lot of teams would offer (far) more than the Rocktes would be willing to offer for Redick.

    I like Brooks as a future 6th man for Houston. He moves like Koby I don't know if he has the work ethic. Good offense Bad Defense.

    Here is a pick that would be a good quality asset for Morey to get for his bucket of assets-

    2014 first round draft pick from Denver
    Orlando receives the least favorable of Denver's own 2014 1st round pick and New York's own 2014 1st round pick via Denver [Denver - L.A. Lakers - Orlando - Philadelphia, 8/10/2012]

    Another move Morey could make-

    Rip Hamilton(5 Mil w/ team option) for Scott Machado(473K)

    Gets the Bulls to within just 100K over the Lux tax, and under the Lux Tax for 2013/14.

    Here is the pick it could get Houston for their troubles-

    2013 first round draft pick from Charlotte
    Charlotte's own 2013 1st round draft pick to Chicago (top-12 protected in the 2013 Draft, top-10 protected in 2014, top-8 protected in 2015 and unprotected in the 2016 Draft.) [Charlotte - Chicago, 2/18/2010]

    ^^ ;)

    I doubt they'd move the Bobcats pick to get under the luxury tax. I think they'll find a taker for something less valuable like a top-20 protected pick or so of their own.

    I do agree though that Hamilton is somebody the Rockets might look to take on to get another asset.

    Couldn't we waive Mcroberts or buy him out after the trade goes through?

    I'd watch Denver on this. They can absorb Rip without going over tax and they could really use another shooter right now. Houston can fully absorb him too (if they clear a roster spot), but Denver might not even ask for a pick.
