http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/sto...chez-new-york-jets-benched-greg-mcelroy-start Rex Ryan has seen enough of Mark Sanchez. The New York Jets coach made the dramatic but expected decision Tuesday, benching the only starting quarterback he's had in four years. Ryan will give Greg McElroy his first career start Sunday at home against the San Diego Chargers. Ryan is expected to address the media at 4:45 p.m. ET. The decision is a stunning blow to Tim Tebow, the No. 2 quarterback. The organization is concerned about the potential fallout from passing over one of the most popular players in the league, an
The picks, and that last mishandled, albeit low, snap..Oh, and this: Damn that still makes me laugh. Sure he has money, but I wouldn't wanna be him. You see him running around post-game to say good game to people? It looked sad man.
I don't think it's fair to start McElroy over Tebow. The dude has been waiting, and the Jets don't have anything to lose, so why not put in Tebow? He is the no. 2 QB.
In reality? The coaching staff has seen enough to know that Tebow is not and will not develop into an NFL starting QB. He won't be on this team in three months. Sanchez is going to stay as the most expensive backup in the league, possibly third-stringer. McElroy is getting to audition for next year as they start trying to decide if they're going to pay for a vet or draft another guy at the position.
Does Rex Ryan get fired this offseason? That game last night was just excruciating. Sanchez was pathetic.
You've got to, IMO. That or their GM. Someone has to take the blame for sticking with Sanchez the past two years, and possibly for thinking Tebow would be any better.
I think Sanchez has played his last game in a Jets uniform last night. I also expect Rex Ryan will be fired once the regular season is over.
Anybody else feel like Kubes would be interested in him if he's a FA and cheap? He can still be salvaged! The price of refurbishment is peanuts compared to buying new!
We've got Yates with an advanced development from last year, plus Case Keenum on the practice squad. Why waste the roster spot on a guy that's devolved into a complete pile of garbage? Besides, Sanchez is not likely to be released this spring because of his contract. They'll hold on to him as a reserve.
Even if he does suck, and yes he does...why when he get on a little bit of rhythm, the coaches pull him for Tebow to run him?
I think the GM gets fired. Ryan gets one year with a new GM to coach for his job. The "talent" they've been acquiring is unimpressive.
Holy **** Mark Sanchez's contract. LOL! http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-york-jets/mark-sanchez/ That franchise is SO screwed. They need to draft Landry Jones or something and just take the cap hit of cutting Suckchez.
What the team should do 1. eat the salary of Mark(at least 75% of it) trade him to a team like Arizona, Oakland... 2. Fire Rex and Hire Cowher, Gruden or Dungy... 3. Trade Tebow to Jacksonville 4. Try Acquiring a young backup QB like Collins or draft one early in this years draft...have a open competition with the remaining QBs left 5. Trade players off the team that are overpriced and loudmouthed... 6. Keep Revis and build around him..
