You do realize that Schaub's primetime resume goes further back than just this year, right? (Hint: his rating was 85ish before 2012) In addition, you already recognize the entire team has played poorly. So why pile on Schaub? Also, you should probably take into account that the Bears, Jets, and Packers are all top 5 pass defenses. But yeah, you're right, a chance to clinch the division and take a huge step towards getting homefield, against a surging division rival, is not a big game at all. Derp.
UHHHHHHHH, how many games are going on in the playoffs?????? Are there 32 NFL teams playing in the playoffs????? The spotlight is on the 12 teams that make the playoffs.
LOL, its ok Nimo just continue swimming in your little fish tank and going around the truth (Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming) . I really hope SCHAUB gets his monkey of his shoulder but the facts are there. He has no playoff experience and we'll see if he performs like he has on Primetime (where the spotlight is on him), or like he does on any other day.
I was hoping you would go do this homework by yourself but since you won't http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prime_time If you just mean "big games" where a lot of people were watching and not actual primetime then you have to include the Broncos game where Schaub played excelent. You should also include the Ravens game.
Okay not that you have explained that NEMO, uhhhhhh is the superbowl primetime????? And do you think the playoffs is comparable to 'Big Regular Season' games????? And you are right Schaub did play excellent against the Broncos, but if you would have seen my earlier post I stated that. Unfortunately the spotlight was not on him for that game....
this thread is about schaub, right? derp. and you know who's opinion i'll take over yours regarding which game was bigger? AJ's.
And that, in a nutshell, is the crux of this issue and why we're all wasting our time: these guys are so stubbornly dug-in on Schaub, they truly believe that if the Texans win and Schaub plays well, in their mind, that team was *obviously* flawed because there's NO WAY Schaub has the capacity to rise to any occassion and play well against a good team. So it doesn't count. Meaning we're stuck with having to argue with guys who literally think the only meaningful games a 12-2 team poised to be a #1 seed have played all year are, conveniently, their two losses. It's a no-win situation.
You are right, the texans don't get enough respect. Whether they win or lose people always find something to bring them down. But in regards to Schaub, you are mistaken. He has played great games against good/great teams. However the issue is will he be able to do it on primetime. He has no playoff experience and this year on primetime he has had his weakest performances. Now can he get this primetime jitters of his shoulders in the playoffs/superbowl? YES he can, but will he? Only time will tell..
You've got to be clear in your posts; especially when you're trying to argue your point with another poster. You're all over the place and your posts are hard to read. Schaub obviously has not played in any playoff games so we can't say he "choked" there. If you're arguing he's "choked" in regular season primetime games, we've shown that many "elite" QBs have done the same. Not to mention the Texans are 2-2 in primetime games this season. If you're talking about high-profile games against "elite" QBs then you include the Broncos game where he played very well after taking a pretty hard hit to his head cutting a bit of his ear off. Whether you look at primetime as a time slot or as big regular season games against very good teams, he doesn't have a losing record.
Ok I'll keep it simple. So is the superbowl a primetime game? Since you decided to avoid that question... In regards to many of the elite QBs doing the same, you are completely right. One example is Eli manning. But like I said in an earlier post, 'Now can he get this primetime jitters of his shoulders in the playoffs/superbowl? YES he can, but will he? Only time will tell'......
Of course the superbowl is in primetime. If your argument is that Schaub will take the Texans to the superbowl and then fail under pressure in February. I'll take that! In fact 30 teams in the league will take that without hesitating.
Correct, and when assigning blame to Schaub, you should probably factor in that nobody else is playing well. If Schaub was pooping the bed by his lonesome and the reason we were failing, your criticism would have more merit. Did I say the Indy game was bigger? That'd be a no.
I personally don't think much of Shaub, he's decent but a true product of our system. He has nothing that truly sets him apart from other QB's and he's far from elite. His arm strength is below avg, accuracy is avg at best, mobility well using the term might imply that he has some, and composure well he lacks that too. His reads are college like given that he only has 1-3 options and they are predetermined in order, and normally he settles for throwing it away, the checkdown, or his curled fetal position when there's pressure. He manages the game in our system and given our excellent running game, solid d, and the fact that he has one of the best ever catching passes for him makes him just good enough to stay our starter.
HAHAHAHAHA. Your funny NEMO and NO that is not my point. My point is will he be able to lead us to the SUPERBOWL. Will he perform like he has in primetime games (horrible) or will he perform like he has in non-primetime games (good). Is that simple enough NEMO...
Im not even sure who's talking about what and what the argument is about anymore. In any case, here is my take... The Texans have, for quite some time now, longed for national attention. When they play these Sunday night and Monday night games, it seems like the incentive for them to win is to show America that they deserve to be respected like all the top tier teams in the league. Kind of like proof that they have arrived. However, it seems like the hype is too much for them to handle and they just disappoint almost every time in these situations. The entire team is responsible for it, not only Schaub. I dont know if its a lack of experience or whatever, but they clearly have not been able to play their game when those kinds of games have been played. Seems like when they play at home at noon, they are in their comfort zone...and anything outside of that messes with their rhythm. I do worry about Schaub and the rest of the guys, going up against elite teams when everyone is watching. I can easily envision a situation where they just get blown out the building in the Super Bowl. They need to prove me wrong...but Im just not comfortable with how they have been playing as of late, as well as those two huge showdowns against the Packers and Patriots. Its not a fluke or a coincidence that we got smoked in both games...there is obviously something that isnt right with the team.
Agreed 100%. Q:Is Schaub elite? A:Who gives a ****! Q:Can Schaub lead us to the Superbowl? A:I hope that Schaub is a part of the total TEAM effort of the Texans getting to the Superbowl.
Isn't it a little *too* convenient that the only big games that seem to matter are the ones the Texans lost? They've had 6 "showcase" games this year (ie national coverage - 4 prime time; Thanksgiving; the 3pm CBS double-header against Denver); they're 4-2. They're currently 4-2 against playoff teams (including Indianapolis). And they're 2-0 against playoff contenders (Jets and Bears). If you extend it to last year, they're 7-4 against playoff teams (including 2-0 with TJ Yates). Primetime games - especially NBC games - generally pit the best against the best. There's no shame in losing to the Pack and Pats - they went 28-4 last year and are 8-1 and 7-2, respectively, in their last 9 games. Two games against elite competition should not invalidate a season.
And in both of those games, I thought to myself "Who is this team?" Those games were outliers, IMO. Both times, the real Texans showed up the following week to help ease the pain of embarrassing losses. Which team will show up in the playoffs? I am not sure, but I certainly am excited to find out.
