Aw yeah, you guys are definitely bad asses. Going out on Saturday, popping a cassette into your Iroc Z's tape deck before you head to the Circle K to get some beers before you go cruising. Did you use a baseball bat to knock over mailboxes? The rest of us old fuddy duddies are watching SNL on our DVRs when we come home or wake up on Sunday because it's f**king 2012 and we can record it.
The only thing possibly more insufferable than the "Only the first 5 seasons of The Simpson's were good" crowd is the "People still watch SNL?" crowd.
Really now? Here I was thinking people who made exaggerated complaints about first world problems were the most insufferable bunch.
Completely agree. I think a lot of people misremember what SNL was in the past. At no time was every single sketch on every single episode hilarious to everyone. On SNL, there are generally one or two sketches that kill it, one or two sketches that get a few solid laughs and one or two sketches that bomb. That's true now and it has been true since the show has been on the air. If a few jokes falling flat each show make the show "not funny anymore," then there must not be any funny shows on TV.
'94 - '95 was pretty brutal between the uneven casting and Garofalo feuding with Sandler & Co, and right before he got canned MacDonald was going through whole Weekend Updates with dead air, almost like some kind of audience protest. Only thing I saw from the mid-80s was some Weekend Update sketch with Downey doing armpit fart noises.
