yeah why not...sometimes the greatest virtue of a coach can be to just let his players play...look how mc hale is not allowing lin to play or dantoni is not allowing Gasol to play..the coach who would just allow his players to play without pushing their preconcieved systems down the players throats are great coaches...

Exactly. Laker fans wanted to get rid of Mike Brown because he didn't win. Now that he's gone, the Lakers have taken off under the great Mike D'antoni. Oh wait.
That may be the single most nutso post I have read in the last month. For example, it is Pop's way or the highway. And he isn't a great coach? System less NBA basketball would not be basketball, it would be chaos.
IMO, McHale is not the worst coach in the league right now. He can win some games, but honestly he just doesn't have "it" to win games when things getting tougher on the court. McHale is an excellent player, a good person and even a players coach, but that doesn't translate into a good coach. He doesn't have creative offensive plays, his rotations is somewhat rigid and odd and his timeout is often questionable. In short words, he doesn't have enough mental talent to be a good coach. (BTW, It's not a co-incident that many good player-turned-coaches are the ones who used to be PGs. PG position requires more mental ability: better understanding of the games, i.e. offense/defense/changes on the court, etc..) I have a feeling that Rick Carlisle would be a very good coach for this team.
Or it is a completely new and very young team and the team has not had time to gain the sophistication and experience so many casual NBA fans demand immediately. Occam's razor. The simplest explanation is the most likely. Oh, did I mention that the Rockets current have a dearth of talent? They only have 3 players that would start on any top 8 team in either conference.
The NBA is a talent-driven league. If the Rockets can win games and make the playoffs, at least one of our young players have stepped up and become star caliber players. Second, most of our players are very young. A winning environment has an important impact on their development. They will also benefit from the playoff experience if they make the playoff. Finally, our young players would have more trade values if the Rockets won more games. Our current team is not bad enough to land a top pick. Unless we intentionally tank for a better lottery pick, winning actually increases our chance of getting a second star via trade or free agency.
All coaches are 'about' winning. The criticism is not about that, it's about their capability and the methods used to achieve winning. This is where KM needs to improve.
Oh def. I agree. He is all about wanting to win. He has come out, and discussed how hard he takes losses as a coach, and his past; when he was a player, as well. He sends messages, but sometimes he just isn't the greatest in making adjustments in game. Only complaint I have with him at times. I like him, and I really like his staff, or should I say the rest of "our staff." He knows this team has Harden, and knows that Harden is the only guy that can take a play every time. (He mentioned this during the Boston game in the ESPN interview by Jon Barry) He is trying to keep the youngsters in check. This is a very young team, and I'm sure he gets super frustrated at times with the turnovers, and dumb plays at time. He is a great players' coach, and fits well this year it seems with all the players. I like his attitude, and what he brings to the table most of the time. I loved JVG, but everyone complained about him too. Tough dynamic as a head coach in these forums really. Rick was never given as much credit as he should have, or praise for "the streak", another example.
He seems to know that Patterson > Morris > Jones at this point in their careers. Which is certainly more than I can say for the fans, who seem to think the exact opposite.
Only because you have sparse and incomplete information. It is your fault - well not really your fault because every fan has sparse and incomplete information when compared to the coaching staff.
