You are still not responding to the arguments I've given you. The primary purpose of cigarettes and alcohol is confer a benefit unto the individual consuming them, even at the cost of their own health. We allow this because the individual can decide for themselves whether they're willing to take that risk. The 6 year old kid didn't consent for Adam Lanza to walk into that school with a semi-automatic rifle. That being said, we DO place restrictions on how you can utilize cigarettes and alcohol, and we DO place restrictions on what is allowed (for example, flavored cigarettes are outlawed).

On your second retort, I'm arguing over what the correct interpretation of the constitution is. You haven't justified why the constitution gives us unlimited access to arms. I ask you for the third time: do you believe the constitution affords us the right to RPGs, IEDs and fully automatic weapons so we can protect ourselves from the government?

The guy who was killed over drugs was a drug dealer, and my uncle by marriage. It happened when I was a kid. The one stabbed on his front porch was an alcoholic and in and out of prison for DUI, a guy that he stayed in a halfway house with stabbed him for no apparent reason and rode off on a bike, he was again an uncle by marriage. The third uncle was rich, and got drunk and took a shotgun to his mouth after his wife left him.

Two of these were in Texas, one was in Georgia. **** happens.

Yes, but we take measures to curb those threats by limiting exposure to third party externalities. Similarly, we could do the same with guns by fulfilling your second amendment rights (you can have your shotguns) and by preventing more deaths (banning more dangerous weapons like semi-autos and handguns).

Why argue over the interpretation of the Constitution? That is why we have the Supreme Court. Don't like a law, petition to have it removed by the Supreme Court. Until then, stop whining. I'm not changing your mind and you aren't changing mine.

You keep going back to shotguns, why shotguns? What makes them the end-all be all? You claimed muskets earlier, but what makes you say that shotguns are okay? They are okay to YOU, so you feel you should pass your judgement on the rest of us. Nice high horse you've got there.

I can get an automatic shotgun with a barrel magazine of solid slugs... which turns the shotgun in to a giant hand gun. You need to learn more about guns apparently.

Well I hope you enjoy your family's cycle of violence. That "**** happens" attitude really seems to be paying off for you and yours.

One more question that I think all people who support semi-autos and handguns should answer to justify their position.

Let's say that hypothetically, there is statistical evidence that banning semi-autos and handguns would save MORE lives (taking into account both self-defense AND gun-related crimes). If you somehow had the magical ability to KNOW this was true, would you still support allowing handguns and shotguns, even if you knew it would cost lives?

Anyone who answers yes, in my opinion, has a seriously different moral outlook on the world than I could comprehend.

No we don't do nearly enough against a greater threat, but we want to keep doing more against a protected right. No logic there.

Why aren't you willing to re-examine your own beliefs? You're getting clobbered on the actual arguments until you actually respond substantively? I don't understand why people cling to their original positions when arguments are presented against them. At least respond to the arguments I've given you.

Even if I take your argument at it's strongest (which I don't), you're simply arguing by appeal to example. So, fine, let's hypothetically ban cigarettes and make alcohol only available under very strict circumstances. That doesn't change the argument about guns.

We have the freedom to drive, which costs lives. We have the freedom to play organized sports which costs lives. We have the freedom to smoke, drink and eat almost anything we want which cost lives. Freedom isn't free nor has it ever been.

We could save 400,000+ lives per year banning all tobacco sales, but we don't. We could close down all fast food restaurants and ticket anyone caught selling unhealthy food and save millions of lives a year, but we don't... because that's not freedom.

Who says I'm getting clobbered on my arguments? You? Go figure.

4th time. Should we have the ability to possess grenades, IEDs, RPGs and tanks? If not, why not? Very simple question.

LOL! You're hilarious. Yeah, so because my uncle was a drug dealer and he got killed... it was my fault due to my attitude. Since my other uncle was an alcoholic and spent time in a halfway house with a psychopath... my attitude was at fault? And since my other uncle had depression issues my attitude was completely at fault.

Me being anti-gun wouldn't haven't changed any of their fates, and to think otherwise just shows how much of a fool you are.

Don't worry, I don't take your non logic arguments with much more than a grain of salt either. The fact is there is always an ability to abuse something, and guns is not a priority of attack whatsoever, even in the face of tragedy. It is a protected right and completely useful in the right circumstances. When is tobacco, or even alcohol ever useful?

By the way, "freedom" is the maximization of rights. First of those rights is the right to life, because without that, you can't access any other rights. You can make the conscious decision to abridge your own right to life, but you shouldn't be able to for anyone else. Ask the parents of those children if living in your world of "freedom" was worth it. Freedom first and foremost requires you to be alive.

I'd love to have some of those. I've thrown a grenade before, it was awesome. And you can own a tank and RPG, as long as they are grandfathered in. Not sure how you own an IED, but I guess a propane canister from your grill means you already can.

We should totally give up fire too, it's so dangerous!

Fine, let's ban tobacco and alcohol. What you're doing is called committing a logical fallacy. An argument by example or an appeal to authority is a logical fallacy. You haven't justified your own position.
