As far as the episode itself, I thought it was terrible. I had way high expectations and I can honestly say I didn't enjoy the comedy or music. Not sure what that Nirvana/McCartney collaboration was all about. The new song they wrote sounded like grunge noise to me while drowning out the vocals. Maybe should have left that stuff retired with Kurt. And, I thought Short was pretty bad and the skits just weren't funny. I cringed a lot, though.

It was all staged, just part of the skit.

I saw this live... of course he would tempt the censors... it's Samuel L. Jackson... ...

At first I thought he and Hanks would be in a skit, because they came out in the initial opening song... that was funny.

Didn't he really say "Man, this is bull****!"?? I thought he did. "Come on, Samuel, that costs money!" was a great response.

Meh, it's LATE... I think they shouldn't say curse words or profanity at all, but... I think they won't get fined for this... I mean, WHAT'S UP... I SAY WHAT'S UuUUUUuUUupppppp... with... THA-A-AAAA-AAAAAttttt?!?!?

That's one more than Charles Rocket and two more than Martin Lawrence, Diceman or Adrien Brody. It'd be nice if sponsors respected safe harbor, but until they do I don't think Lorne has a choice.

I happened to turn it on right before that moment, and I was like "Did he just say ****?" Then it was confirmed when he followed it up immediately with "That's some bull****."

And NBC is all too happy to pay the tiny fine, as it happened in late night the fine won't be crazy. Small price to pay for viral advertising.

I was kind of disappointed with the episode as well. I thought there were some funny moments, but nothing that really set this episode apart.

I was also noticing that their timing was a bit off last night. There was one really long commercial break in the second half of the show. They had to put up those still shots of Martin Short three different times. That generally signals that the show is coming back, but each time during the break, rather than coming back to the show, it went right back to commercial. I guess the fact that they had three musical performances and a really short cold opening threw things off a bit.

Can't believe people still watch SNL, my theory is only old people who are home on a Saturday night would watch it.

Probably so, but it's television. What would you expect?

With SNL it's like the best sketches start the show and then by the time it ends you are glad it's over.

It's Year of the Lord 2012 and people still watch SNL?

Just go download some HBO show you never saw before or something if you have to sit home on a Saturday night
