Maybe Adam Lanza thought his mothered cared more for the children she taught than him? Just trying to figure out why he would kill his mom then drive to her school and start shooting kids.

that's what i thought, but they said today she's not a teacher and they actually found no connection between her and the school. The previous reports were just bad info from inside sources who didn't wait to confirm....i posted earlier that they reported the shooter had some kind of altercation at the school within the last week. so i guess that may be the connection here.

EDIT- They're saying he did attend the school several years ago.

History repeats itself i guess...I think there were always people who thought about doing things like these and all i took was one or two to prove it could actually be carried out, now others are willing to try it..

It's clear you don't even know or understand my position, so I'd apreciate it, if you stopped referring to me.

This is a great article and one that needs to be reiterated. As horrible as these shootings are for any given day at any given school, mall, movie theater temple or any place where people gather a mass shooting is very rare. I have no statistics but I am willing to guess that the chances of getting killed in a mass shooting are probably about the same as winning the lottery.

I believe incidents like this should be used for sensible changes regarding guns, school security and mental health care but there is no reason to become paranoid over this.

Uh, one second robber. Please point the gun down while I call the police on my cell phone. They are better equipped to deal with this.

If you can name two shootings where the shooters were not on drugs I will drop $10 in the tip jar. They have to be similar shootings.

What evidence do you have that these mass shooters were on drugs at the time of the shootings?

My understanding of the Aurora, CO shooter was that Holmes may have stopped treatment at the time of the shooting and if so was likely not taking meds to control his psychosis.

I wish more people pulled their head out of their asses about the gun control debate and focused on this. The important issue is that we help these to keep occurring by covering them, and we also fail to stop these shooters when the vast majority of the time there are clear signs beforehand that something is wrong with them.

Mass shootings are but a tiny, tiny fraction of the amount of gun violence in this country. Copy cat shootings are an even tinier fraction. We're not focusing on gun control with the idea of exclusively stopping psychopathic rampages. These types of events serve to remind us all how completely bug-f**k-nuts our gun laws are. Far more lives are to be saved by implementing better gun regulations than having a media blackout.

No, drug laws are to blame. The vast majority (upwards of 80%) of gun violence occurs due to drugs and/or drug-related activities. Decriminalizing drugs instantly removes the vast majority of that violence overnight. Look at the violence in Mexico where 10,000 people are slaughtered every year... again, the vast majority because of the drug trade. Lawful gun owners account for only a fraction of gun-related deaths.

Violence overall in America has been on a steady decline since the 1980s where cocaine, crack and meth made it's way on the scene. However, it is as easy as every to get access to said drugs.

In addition..Think how many lives could be saved if there was alcohol control. No one "needs" alcohol. 80,000 lives a year is apparently acceptable tho. In the US.

Or cigarettes. The CDC says cigarettes are responsible for more than 5 million deaths per year worldwide, many of them second hand smoke innocent bystanders. 443,000 Americans are killed by cigarettes every year.

What we need....really is a solemn CNN anchor woman speaking "as a mother" about the extensive and mass deaths from alcohol, and cigarettes preferably on a regurgitated feed loop 24 hours a day.. We need a call to outright ban these weapons. Something has to be done.
