The International Energy Association (IEA) put out a report recently (after the election) that the US, by 2017, would become the world's largest oil producer. cnbc article includes a video:

    http://www.cnbc.com/id/49791905/US_to_Become_World039s_Biggest_Oil_Producer_by_2017_IEA

Texas and North Dakota, at the moment, are the two states with the largest significant oil production growth - due largely to tight oil production. Colorado's tight oil production, in the Niobrara, and other states' tight oil production will lag that of North Dakota and Texas due to infrastructural constraints (pipelines and such).

This would also be significant development for peak oil theorist who say, with evidence, that US oil production peaked in the early-1970s. Some say that the recent rise in US oil production is a type of dead cat bounce spurred on by high oil prices. And a large part of this growth is from the crude plus condensate fraction of what is called oil.

    [EDIT]

Total chairman and chief executive Chris de Magerie says peak oil at 98 mb/d, which seems to conflict with the IEA's prediction.

This should give us something to debate until the next congressional election.

I have an idea!!!! Why don't we take advantage of a warming cycle in the Earth's long history of warming and cooling. We could call it "Global Warming" and create a lot of mass hysteria. We could make skewed climate forecast models to make things look worse than they are. We could then use all this to pass "cap and trade" legislation to reign in on these "evil" companies all the while putting more money in the government coffers that we can use to by votes with entitlements.

If you can extract a thumbs-like exile from cml214901293 on this subject, that would be a nice CF x-mas present.

But the sideshow on how he explains the numbers (garbage in-garbage out?) will be a decent diversion.

LMFAO this coming from the man that was certain Romney would win the night before the election and believes in rapture and the end of days even though Revelations in style and content deviate from the rest of the New Testament and rapture isn't even in the Bible but was created by a con man in the 1800's... but global warming is absurd.

I tell you what, you keep $@&$ that chicken and the rest of us adults will worry about math and science.

Oh well, so much for the death of U.S. dominance.

    Maybe next century.
