good for the Rockets, not for the other team. What could the Rockets possibly give that's worth giving up on Wall?

TJones, TD and the rest I mentioned has got to be worth something. I mean OKC saw value in JLamb, why not TJones? We could also add more players and picks into that trade scenario. :)

Quick reminder: It is December 15th, the unofficial start to the NBA's trading season, when far more contracts become tradable.

"Sources" are going to have a lot of fun this week.

Lin,asik, and their choice of morris, patterson, donuts,or jones. Reading articles, the reason why the wizards didn't trade for harden was because if they gave him an extension, they would've hit the lux tax. Wall is a restricted free agent this year and okefor has 1 plus next year left on his contract. So whether the rockets want to pursue a sign and trade for howard in the offseason with dwight or have the cap room to get love 2 yrs from now it works. Of course they would have to sign wall this summer or just match, but his talent next to harden would be worth that risk imo.

Wall is like a much more explosive, dynamic better version of Lin who may have an even worse J.

Him + Harden would have similar problems unless Wall found a J or better, Harden learned to play off the ball.

Career TS% of > 50% is excellent for a shooting guard. Unsure if he has the versatility most teams need from their two guard, in helping advance the ball and facilitate the offense. His career 1.4 APG singles him out little more than a catch and shoot player.

He would be of value as a shooter coming off the bench, but the Bobcats have prioritized developing him just as they have their other young players.

It’s Time For The Charlotte Bobcats To Move On From Gerald Henderson

Five days ago Gerald Henderson celebrated his 25th birthday.
It was the day before Henderson went 2-7 in 18 minutes against the Warriors. Since returning from an injury in November, Henderson’s starting job has gone to second round pick Jeffrey Taylor. Taylor has started 20 games this season, as Coach Dunlap likes what he brings on both sides of the ball as a three-point shooter and defender.

In nine games, Henderson hasn’t been bad. He has a 16.8 PER, a 55.4% TS, and is averaging the most scoring of his career per minute. Henderson’s improved mid-range shooting, athleticism, and defensive versatility has made him coveted by some Bobcats fans over the past three seasons. However, Henderson was not given a contract extension in the offseason by the Bobcats, and he’ll enter restricted free agency next summer.

Wall is under contract for 2 more years. They are far away from luxury tax. By the time they have to resign him, they'll have to worry about reaching minimum payroll.

If cash was such a problem, the Wizards wouldn't have added Okafor, Nene and Ariza in the first place. They made those moves in order to change the culture and give Wall people to pass to. So how likely would it be to now trade Wall after he had less than 30 games with those new veteran guys.

And in general, no team is going to trade their by far the best talent / youngster with superstar potential for a bunch of role players unless there's something horribly wrong -- brutal injuries, major character issues, trade demands, something of that sort.
Wall hasn't even played 150 NBA games yet. He's a decent jump shot away from being an all star every year.

The link is appreciated. That article is written with a clear agenda, though.

I've never seen a writer try so hard to downplay the fact that a "starting job went to another player" because the player in question was literally injured and so therefore could not play, let alone start, and then when returning from the injury, was coming off the bench as his minutes are ramped up, which is very customary among many NBA teams.

So then after making that (completely r****ded) point, we get to the real reason the Bobcats might be willing to "move on" from Henderson: They just don't want him pay him down the road.

Now that I get. He's worth a good chunk of cash in free agency, and the Bobcats boast no winning culture or sense of camaraderie with which they could hope to retain him on the cheap.

This is a thread about Rockets trade ideas, but as a minor sideline into free agency signings, yeah, Henderson is worth a look at the right price. Absolutely.

Another slight adjustment would be to add Harden going to Sota (and Jones+picks to Utah). Then I think they'd have to think about it. :)

The thing is, you are turning Patterson and Jones into Love... That's far more distorted than the OKC deal, and they aren't even facing tax issues, and Love can't leave for 3 years.

Its funny I was thinking the same thing Bobcats are just cheap.
Yeah I know its a Trade thread so HOU may be able to get him so a low price 1 of our thousand PF's or maybe a 2nd rounder with a player. If not could be a good signing in offseason. Gerald is young at 25 and a good man on man plus help defender. I was thinking he would run same role as C.Lee did.

I could see this happening, a Courtney Lee type of role. The difference is that Lee was an exceptional perimeter defender, and I don't know if the same could be said about Henderson. Maybe it's something that could be coached into him.

Houston sends two 2nd round picks to Utah.

Toronto gets some return value for Calderon

Jazz get an underrated point guard (their weak spot) for a player likely to leave soon anyway.

    We upgrade at the powerforward.

Minnesota dumps a player that doesn't fit, for one that's familar with Adelman's system and a hard-nosed defensive player.
