http://news.ca.msn.com/world/china-stabbing-spree-hurts-22-schoolchildren A knife-wielding man injured 22 children and one adult outside a primary school in central China as students were arriving for classes Friday, police said, the latest in a series of periodic rampage attacks at Chinese schools and kindergartens. The attack in the Henan province village of Chengping happened shortly before 8 a.m., said a police officer from Guangshan county, where the village is located. The attacker, 36-year-old villager Min Yingjun, is now in police custody, said the officer, who declined to give her name, as is customary among Chinese civil servants. A Guangshan county hospital administrator said the man first attacked an elderly woman, then students, before being subdued by security guards who have been posted across China following a spate of school attacks in recent years. He said there were no deaths among the nine students admitted, although two badly injured children had been transferred to better-equipped hospitals outside the county. A doctor at Guangshan's hospital of traditional Chinese medicine said that seven students had been admitted, but that none were seriously injured. Neither the hospital administrator nor the doctor would give his name. Children likely between 6-11 years old It was not clear how old the injured children were, but Chinese primary school pupils are generally 6-11 years old. A notice posted on the Guangshan county government's website confirmed the number of injured and said an emergency response team had been set up to investigate the attacks. No motive was given for the stabbings, which echo a string of similar assaults against schoolchildren in 2010 that killed nearly 20 and wounded more than 50. The most recent such attack took place in August, when a knife-wielding man broke into a middle school in the southern city of Nanchang and stabbed two students before fleeing. Most of the attackers have been mentally disturbed men involved in personal disputes or unable to adjust to the rapid pace of social change in China, underscoring grave weaknesses in the antiquated Chinese medical system's ability to diagnose and treat psychiatric illness. In one of the worst incidents, a man described as an unemployed, middle-aged doctor killed eight children with a knife in March 2010 to vent his anger over a thwarted romantic relationship.
And idiots who think guns doesn't kill people. Good thing this idiot didn't own a gun(s) or gotten a hold of one.
You're right. He killed 22 people with knives, imagine how many he would have killed with guns. You just completely contradicted yourself. EDIT: Nope, my mistake. Misread the post again.
China has knife control according to the article. I am wondering if this guy would be sentenced to death. The man has legit mental illness.
^^Did this idiot even read the title of the article? Injuring 22 is not the same as killing 22. So what would you rather have a mental disorder person in their possession? An easily possess of a knife, a gun, a bomb or a nuke?
I don't know, I think we should stop the prohibition on civilian-owned nuclear weapons. Because you can't 100% prevent the circulation of nuclear weapons we might as well give up and let everyone own one! EDIT: Thought you had a different stance on the issue, carry on!
In most states there are restrictions on knives....see below for reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knife_legislation#United_States_of_America Each American state also has laws that govern the legality of carrying weapons, either concealed or openly, and these laws explicitly or implicitly cover various types of knives. Some states go beyond this, and criminalize mere possession of certain types of knives. Other states prohibit the possession and/or the concealed carrying of knives that feature blade styles or features sufficient to transform them into "dangerous weapons"[76][77] or "deadly weapons", i.e. knives either optimized for lethality against humans or designed for and readily capable of causing death or serious bodily injury.[76][78] These frequently include knives with specific blade styles with a historical connection to violence or assassination, including thrusting knives such as the dirk, poignard, and stiletto, and double-edged knives with crossguards designed for knife fighting such as the dagger.[76][79] Some states make the carrying or possession of any dangerous or deadly weapon with intent to unlawfully harm another a crime.[76] In states like Alabama,[80] Mississippi,[81] New Mexico,[82][83] Texas,[76] and Virginia,[76] the carrying on one's person of large and lengthy fighting knives capable of causing grievous wounds such as the Bowie Knife[84] is prohibited by statute,[76][85] originally in the interest of controlling or eliminating the then-common practice of "dueling", a term which had degenerated from a rarely used social custom into a generalized description for any knife or gun fight between two contestants.[79][86] In many jurisdictions, a local tradition of using knives to settle differences or for self-defense[79][87] resulted in the enactment of statutes that restricted the size and length of the knife and particularly, the length of its blade.[79]
This seems to be very frequent over there. Psychos can't get guns, so they get knives (or, in one instance, hammers) and ran into primary schools. We're a truly ****ed up species.
Actually, they've had 20 students killed by knife attacks in recent years. http://worldnews.nbcnews.com/_news/...nife-at-elementary-school-gates-in-china?lite
What if he had AK47 with a bag of loaded magazines instead of a knife? In china there are criminals with guns but it is rare and most mentally disturbed people will not get their hands on a gun, guess how many gun related death do they have in a country with five times the population of united states?
What if my aunt had a penis? She'd be my uncle. The point is, if people want to go on a mass killing spree, they're going to. We need to find out WHY people do it so we can help stop them in the future. There were CLEAR warning signs about the CT shooter, just like with nearly every other shooter to date.
