Battier was cool, nothing against him but Parsons is on a higher level than Shane ever was right now. Not to mention we've got him in his 2nd year whereas we had Battier as a glue guy when he was already a finished product. Parsons being about 1/7 of the price doesn't hurt either.

Parsons has had plenty of clutch shots himself this season and last season. In fact, if it was a last shot situation. I don't want Harden nor Lin taking it. I want Parsons to take the shot.
Parsons is way better. His advantage in offense > Battier's advantage on defense. Plus he's more athletic and just does more to impact the game on both ends of the court.
I think people forget how great Battier was on defense in his prime. In a defense-first, half court system, Battier was incredibly valuable. Especially when playing alongside ball-dominating players. IMO, much more valuable than Parsons would be in the same system. On the flip side, Parsons excel more in a high pace fast break system the Rockets currently run today. A lot of Parsons' production comes from transition, something I've basically never seen Battier be a part of. For all the fire McHale threads that we see everywhere, he's created a perfect system for Parsons to excel in. If we had JVG, Parsons this year would look similar to Parsons last year.
The rockets beat utah in 06 with chandler parson. 2 yrs in and he's already better than shane ever was. He's getting better, shane peaked and never got better.
finally something other than a LOF vs LOH grudge match. Parsons is more aggressive on offense, but his defense is not as polished. That will improve with time. All of this would be a moot point if we had kept Gay. Parsons just turned to be a happy consequence.
Battier is a professional that works hard and plays smart hard nose defense. Even though Parsons isn't as fundamentally sound on the defensive end as Battier, he is more athletic and has the length to play good defense. Parsons still has a lot more to learn to be a great lock down defender but right now, he's still pretty good. On the offensive end, Battier has never really been a scoring threat. Most of his points are just camped out on the 3 point line and he has gone through a lot of cold streaks. What made him still valuable even though his shooting streaks are iced cold is he's a professional and plays good defense. Chandler Parsons, at his 2nd year in the league, is slowly becoming an offensive threat. Parsons is better than Battier in all aspects on the offense, better shooter, playmaker and he can also put the ball on the floor. Parsons is still young and only improving but right now in his 2nd year, he is a better player than Shane was in Houston. But that's my opinion.
Parson's ceiling is somewhere between Robert Horry and Quitten. Quitten>Horry>>>>>>>Battier Battier is the intangible guy with no tangibles. Pippen, Horry, and Parson have intangibles but can still fill up a stat sheet when needed.

In all four of your areas, Battier was better in his prime. But it is close in all of them... The thing that Parsons has on Battier is his slashing ability, his overall scoring, creating shots for him and others and the overall offensive impact. But: we are talking about Battier in his prime. Parsons is still only in his second year. Before long he will be better than Battier in most areas - but I think leadership will always belong to Battier (at least of the court).
No comparison. Battier was a SCRUB who occasionally knock down open 3's and played above average Defense. Probably the most overrated player on this BBS after Lin.
