So you want him on Miami? He ain't ever touching the ball with Lebron James in the game. His ass is sitting on the bench while Lebron becomes the primary ball handler in the fourth.
No, I guess not. But I wonder if those percentages really reflect how often each player is in that primary ball-handling role. Maybe Harden's relatively few spot up shots also has to do with his teammate's inability to draw away his defender. So, maybe Lin is getting more ball-handling opportunities than those Synergy stats suggest. But supposing he's often not able to create a shot off of it because of the defense or him just being overly passive, it wouldn't register in Synergy's database as a ball-handling play for him. And suppose Harden, in contrast, tends to be more aggressive with the ball in trying to either get a shot off, draw a foul, or create something for a teammate by drawing defenders on his drives. So as a result more of his plays get registered in Synergy's records.
You guys who are mad at McHale realize that Lin loves him, right? He's even said that McHale was "more than a coach" -- implying he's like a father or something? Jeremy said McHale would text him after games (this was when his daughter was DYING). Maybe he's incompetent or maybe there's a trade coming back -- but this campaign of persecution by McHale is a weird thing to think.
good night LOH's. tired from shoving all your faces into the deck all day long. see you back tomorrow!
This is an interesting point. I have a few thoughts. Would Lin likely have more success in LA yes. Why because Harden & Lin are exactly the same where as Lin & Kobe are very different. Let me elaborate. Harden scores off the PNR & Iso & spots up. He doesn't really cut or post up. Lin is the exact same as Harden. Kobe can post up & he can cut something that Lin isn't the best at. So Lin & Kobe are a lot less redundant than Lin & Harden. Harden facilitates the offense something that Lin has to do. Kobe can facilitate the offense but he is a lot better suited, isolating, post up & spotting up. So Lin & kobe would make a lot more sense. Plus Mike Dantoni is a lot more imaginative offensively than McHale is. Remember Lin had success with Carmelo despite what the media would like to tell you. Lin averaged about 14 & 7 with Lin Melo Amare Tyson in the starting line up. But lets not forget Kobe is a ball hog of epic proportions. Even with Lin there Kobe would still be a ball hog. But Nash is the starting PG of the Lakers. So Lin would play off the bench. He would still have a lot of minutes though, likely just as many minutes as Nash because Nash is up there in age & Mike Dantoni LOVES to run a lot of two PG line ups. Plus Nash can shoot so he is a threat off the ball. FYI I am not advocating Lin going to the Lakers I am just responding to your sentiment that it is stupid for people to say that he should go to LA. He makes more sense there than he does in Houston. In fact of all the teams that Lin would succeed the most in the Lakers & the Knicks are at the top LOL. Dallas is a good option as well. Toronto not really Lowry is in Toronto so I don't know why people are even bringing it up. But like I said I doubt Lin is going anywhere any time soon. Just a few thoughts.
Typical LOH response??.. by thinking its ridiculous that Lin would somehow have every offensive possession run through him WITH THE LAKERS. Do you happen to know who else plays in LA??? Im far from a LOH. I love the kid, and think he's played much better than I had hoped aside from the scoring(which they do not need anyways). But LOF'ers thinking Lin needs to be traded to LA right this second just because Pringles coaches there now needs a serious reality check. I guess my point is that the LOF'ers live in LALA Land in their head so they might as well root for LALA Lakers , and take their nonsense LALA Land.
It is as if the coaches already made up their minds that Jeremy is a scrub and refuse to acknowledge the possibility that Jeremy might be a star player, even after he proved them wrong night after night last season as the primary option and the one game he was the primary option this season.
I am definately not a Lin only fan. But watching that game something definately stunk. Lin only took 6 shots making 2 so essentially he was one make away from 50 but through 3 quarters he had 7 assists. Overall I thought Lin did a great job of putting the team and his teammates in a great position. How do you bench your team leader in assists who was playing good d for a pg who had 0 assists and 9 shots. Not railing on TD. But can someone explain how that makes any sense at all? To not get a second of playing time after such a successful third quarter offensive and defensively?
Lin is not going anywhere. The coaching staff should find a way to maximize the back court abilities. If LBJ and DWade can work together and get a champ, Lin and Harden can coexist too
Theorycrafting aside, the Lakers always played a spot-up shooter next to Kobe. When Sessions was traded to the Lakers, probably the best Lin comparison, he first excelled as a backup. Then crashed down to Earth when he started alongside Kobe. Capped off by an absolute pitiful playoff performance. If it weren't for the fact the Lakers have absolutely nothing worth trading for beyond their untouchables, I almost wish Lin would be traded there. Just to see the hilarity that would ensue between Laker bandwagoners and Lin bandwagoners. It would make for great internet entertainment.
Great response. Synergy is not perfect so obviously everything should be taken with a grain of salt. The eye test isn't perfect either but I think it is clear that Lin isn't playing the role of primary facilitator, he is the secondary one. Sure defenses have a lot to do with it, Harden being here & the offensive system as well. Frankly I think the biggest part is the offensive system. McHale likes the PG to bring the ball up & swing it to harden who runs the PNR & has the option to score or pass to teammates to shoot. If Harden wasn't here Lin would be in that Harden role & TD would be in the Lin role. Just like we saw in the Spurs game. Going off of what Synergy provides. Lin is getting just as many ball handling opportunities as James Harden as the PNR ball handler. They are both at 29% time. But this is the issue. We all know James Harden is better than Lin in EVERY way. James Harden is ranked 3rd in the NBA as the PNR ball handler with the same exact %time as Lin but has is ranked 44 places higher than Lin. Harden is just more lethal scoring off of it. I think what it is is that Lin needs the PNR being consistently run. And by consistently I mean non stop. In NY he was running the PNR over & over again. I think the best example of it was the Dallas game in NY. Mike Dantoni didn't even run any plays. He just ran the PNR over & over & over & over again & Lin was the PNR ball handler with Tyson, Jarred, Novak all setting picks/screens for him. In Houston not so much. I think Lin's instinct is the PNR & I think he needs a steady diet of it. Hollinger said as much in his insider article. With Harden here he isn't getting as much of it. In NY Lin was running the PNR 50 % of the time of all his offensive possessions in Houston 29%. Here are some more numbers for you. Raymond Felton (in NY) scores of the PNR just as much as Lin does. There numbers are quite identical. Feltons PPP as the PNR ball handler is 0.77 the same as Lins. He ranks 47th in the NBA just like Lin. His FG% is 39 % Lins is 42%. His 3FG% is 61% Lins is 50%. The big difference though is the %Time that they score off the PNR as the ball handler Feltons is 48.2% Lins is 29.1%. If Lin was in NY he would be putting up MUCH better numbers because he would be running the PNR just as much as he was last season & he would be the primary facilitator. In fact if you have watched the Knicks play at all this season, the way Woodson uses Felton & Kidd is the same way that McHale should be using Lin & harden. Also remember that synergy doesn't include data for pass out situations as the PNR ball handler. I wouldn't be surprised if Lin was getting a lot of run as the PNR ball handler & passes to teammates. Harden almost exclusively looks to score. The main point is that Lin needs to be in primary facilitator role instead of Harden. Synergy isn't perfect but the eye tests show that he isn't in that role he is a second option. But the coaching staff disagree with me so what they think is frankly all that matters lol.

Harden was traded four days before the season started. They didn't have a training camp and preseason games to get acclimated. They'll have the summer time to get it together. I bet next season, you'll see them work together better. The thing about LBJ and Wade working it out together is that.... LBJ and Wade are two of the best damn players in the game.
hehe, it works, we are also heartbroken... i feel so sad ... but i don't want to judge the coach, he might've seen things i don't and a win is a win... but, i feel sad and confused, as if sth is not right here but i can't clearly figure out what it is
