I appreciate perimeter play a lot more than post play.
That's just me being part of the new generation of fans that have been accustomed to seeing the likes of Kobe, Tmac, Iverson, CP3, LeBron, Wade, Rose, etc. With the lone exception of old Shaq, Yao, and Howard... the NBA has really put perimeter players on a pedestal; for good reason. Its just more exciting to watch.

Yes I don't think he fits what the Rockets need at that position. They are more comfortable with Harden at the PG position it seems & want someone to play off him knocking down open 3's & playing lock down defense as a SG. I think the Harden trade really shut him out because Harden now plays that role that Lin was supposed to play. And the thing is that Lin never expected for Harden to be traded hear. So he worked on his on ball skills this summer a lot more than his off ball skills. It isn't Lin vs Harden it is what is the Rockets offensive system & Lin not being the right fit for it post Harden. It will be interesting to see how things are going forward. I really like Lin & I like the Rockets, I never liked the idea of him being traded so early but maybe it is necessary to make both better.

At this point, with your irrational logic, I'm sure I have more merit than you.

Anyways, with this being my last reply to you. I'm glad the Rockets won. It would have been nice for Lin to get more time closing out a game but in the end the W is what matters. I'm sure that's all Lin cares about too.

Clearly you don't understand the actual history of what happened.

Lin's camp had no choice but to sign in Houston once an offer was extended. Prior to that he only had a QO from the Knicks. AND the Knicks clearly stated they were going to match the initial offer (5/5/9/9). So, they thought he was worth $28M in salary + $25M in luxury taxes, or $53M over 4 years. Houston unilaterally increased the offer because they had ZERO PG's lined up, so they put out the largest possible offer to maximize the chance of the Knicks not matching. The 5/5/15 offer would have hit the Knicks with close to $40M in luxury taxes. So, they wanted Lin but there's limits to what they were willing to pay.

Lin signed with Houston because it was the highest guaranteed offer in hand. He did what anyone would do in that situation, he took the guarantee.

As for the Rockets, they had ZERO idea that they were going to sign Harden, so prior to the Harden signing the entire offense was being built around Lin and the other young players.

The actual situation we have is the Rockets picked up Harden (unanticipated) and now they're stuck with trying to make it work. I have little doubt that if they knew they were going to get Harden, they would have gone for a shooting guard vs a proper point guard.

Toney Douglas is a sub-par shooting guard, but he is a shooting guard. If you'd followed his career on the Knicks, you'd know this. He shoots the 3, other than that he's a hot mess in terms of running an offense.

Lin was always viewed in NY as a young PG with loads of potential. This is why the original plan for the Knicks off season was to try to secure a veteran PG like Nash and Kidd to mentor him. This would enable the Knicks to maximize their chance for a deep playoff/title run, and still allow them to maximize the development of Lin.

Unfortunately, when you have overlapping skill sets like Harden and Lin, it means the Coaching staff has to be somewhat creative. If McHale played PG instead of Power Forward, I suspect he would already have some ideas on how to make this work.

At this point, all we can do is hope. Otherwise, the best options are to either have Lin play from the 2nd unit, or to trade Lin for a shooting guard.

TD is a shooting guard, but he is an inferior shooting guard. There are MUCH better options to play at the 2 if you want Harden to slide over to the 1.

It was the one game in which Lin was allowed to play unimpeded, and he did exactly what he did last year. It confirmed that what happened last season was not a fluke, and that Lin's "bad" play this season has more to do with his environment than his natural abilities.

And lots of NBA game turn into shootouts. If it's so easy to do, then where are the other young starting PGs putting up gaudy numbers?

In three years...if Lin doesn't get traded or does develop into a top tier pg, I believe the Knicks will want him back. The fan support for Lin in NY is much better then in Houston.

How do you know lin fans dont support rockets team? But coaches are slowly destroying lin's confidence, here there is nothing to do with his daughter.

Actual rockets fans/rockets organization apologize for trading for an actual all-star in Harden. We should have just stuck with Martin and continue our mediocrity without a (sortof) superstar. Yes the rockets are making haters by making the team better, get out of here LOF. (I assume you were talking about trading for harden when you said we ****ed him over)

I'm old school... I agree with Bobby Knight when he said the 3pt line killed the beauty of the game.

That's because Lin was playing well in New York.

I'm not a moderator or anything but is it unreasonable to suggest banning the guys that say they are 'Done with the team!' and such and have just joined the forum?

I mean they said they were done with the forums too so good riddance.

Unless the Rockets eventually run a triangle, or post dominant offense, it will need a primary ballhander with better playmaking skills than Harden to contend for a championship.
