The one game without Harden is all I needed to know that Morey signed him to the right deal. He's a boss when he has to do it by himself. Now, if he could just incorporate himself better when he's playing next to a star...
Apparently so. Reports of Lowry's bad attitude in Toronto. All of Morey's discards from the offseason are not exactly thriving in their new homes (except Dragic). Not really surprising about Lowry's bad attitude, that's been said about him for years - since his time in Memphis. Simmons called it many weeks ago.
Morey does it again! Lowry really wore out his welcome here so I wasn't too upset he was gone. As for Dragic I was sad when he left b/c I truly enjoyed watching him, but we were 1-2 games from making the playoffs and he played like trash the last 20 games. I think Lin is actually the best PG we could get this season.
It looks like Linsanity is dead and will only be resurrected if Harden gets hurt. Monday's game is exactly what happened last year in NY when Carmelo and Amare were injured. Lin feels his job as PG is to get everyone involved and run the offense. Not sure I agree with him seeing as how they are not using him as a PG most of the time. Still his attitude is good for team chemistry and they will do well if the coaches play him enough and in crunch time.
I just want to pose another question out there perhaps framed in a different way: is there any other player in this league who would be perfectly happy to score 38 points against one of the top 2 or 3 teams and the next be a inconsequential role player against the worst team in the league? I don't think so. But that's Jeremy's timid, obedient, and yes, stereotypical Asian, qualities coming out to always look to defer and to be respectful to one's superiors, elders, and teachers. Except in this case the "teacher" ain't no Mr Miyagi... Rather a bunch of clowns. Clearly the coaching has been disastrous through the first quarter of this season, by itself costing us at least 4-5 of the 11 losses. I never hear mchale say "the coaches need to do a better job in putting our guys in the right position to win"... Instead it always has to be non- constructive criticism, along with a lot of eyes rolling.
The only thing Lin isnt doing is scoring...every other part of his game is good. Hopefully he will be a bit more agressive and score a little more... 6 more points a game is all he needs to do....hes doing fine
He also isn't shooting. There is a difference between not scoring ala. Steve Nash and not scoring ala. Lin. Lin needs to stop passing up shots otherwise it becomes detrimental to the team. He always needs to be a potential scoring threat on the floor.
The entire team needs to stop passing up open shots, Parsons, Lin, Patt do this. And it isn't about passing up open shots guys need to hit open shots. If you brick the shot then teams won't consider you a potential scoring thread. Continuously missing shots open shots is just as bad as passing them up in terms of you establishing yourself as a perimeter threat. Both accomplishes neither.
I don't think you get what I am trying to say though, or maybe I am not being clear enough. For Lin it is about hitting open shots. The same goes with everybody else. Because we have no low post threat guys need to hit 3's. The ball needs to go into the basket to establish yourself as a perimeter threat. If you are passing up open shots or missing up open shots it is has the same effect, it doesn't establish you as a perimeter threat. People are focusing on him passing up the open shots but that is just surface level analysis. The deeper issue at hand is that he needs to hit those outside buckets. Just a few thoughts.
Okay, look. Missing open shots is always a problem. It's how you lose games. That's like saying the problem is we don't score more than our opponents. I'm talking about Lin passing up open shots, which is contributing to his passiveness, and it's a problem. Whether he makes shots or not is a different criticism.
Oh I see I misunderstood what you were talking about. In your initial post you said "Lin needs to stop passing up shots otherwise it becomes detrimental to the team. He always needs to be a potential scoring threat on the floor." I focused on the latter half of your post & was commentating on that. We were discussing different things. My apologies. Thanks for the chat.
I hope Lin explodes on national TV tonight! 42-7-7-4-1! maybe we will be on national tv every night like the Knicks..
James Harden would have to not play & Lin would have to hit a lot of his perimeter shots for this to happen. Doubtful. Rockets Knicks is on NBA tv from what I believe.
If he takes them & misses what difference does it make? Passing up an open shot & missing an open shot all counts for zero points & the defense won't view you as a threat. He needs to make his shots to be at his best.
