Time to start a thread about Lin being a vote hog and not passing any votes off to Harden. Harden should be traded away from Lin so fans can really appreciate him.
i bet lin would get like 20 assists in all star with all the fast breaks. 2 points/22 assists/ 7 rebounds and an ass beating by kobe for not shooting an open shot.
Fan voting = popularity contest. More like prom queen selection than valedictorian. We got 2 members of a 9-13 team projected as starters for the West, for example.
Even though (like any election) the voting is a popularity contest, it is usually more pleasing when the voting closely tracks the actual ability of the players, to make it at least seem less like a popularity contest. We celebrate results that look less fraudulent if at all possible.
This. Shouldn't we be happy that at least somebody makes it? Personally I really really wanted Omer to make it but figured he wouldn't. Anyway, Lin won't beat out CP3, CP3 is is crazy popular everywhere. And hopefully Harden makes it in as a reserve.
With all the minutes Kobe is playing theres a chance he'll want to rest for the break. If brooks is the coach im 100% sure he gives that starting spot to Harden if Kobe doesnt suit up. That should be fun
If Jeremy Lin isn't voted to one of the two starting guard spots, then there is no way he makes it as a reserve, where selections are made based on merit, team record, and occasionally past reputation as an NBA All-Star.
Lets face it- The fans who already are voting probably aren't really caring too much about the performance of their players in the first half of the season. Anyone who votes now, is just voting because they are a - ?.....only Fan
Not if they don't deserve it, no. All-star contest is about popularity, which players earned through their good play.
I mean, Houston hosts this thing, best foot forward and all that, maybe there could still be some mysterious injury shenanigans and David Stern could name Lin to the team himself as a replacement.
Everybody is crazy here to complain about this. We might get 2 guys on the West team? Sign me up! Name the starting lineups the past 2 years. See? Nobody will care 2 days after this game is over, just enjoy that for one night, on our home court, we have some representation
No not really. Fans vote for who they want to see. Who they want to see for a multiplicity of reasons. Good play is one aspect of it but it isn't the only aspect. Take off your Lin glasses for a second & analyze everything. Nash isn't even playing & he is getting more votes than Tony Parker? Rubio is out & he is beating out OJ Mayo who is playing like a boss. Dwight Howard is getting more votes than Tim Duncan? Tim Duncan who is a HOFer & is the MVP of a team with a ridiculously good record right now. Just a thought.
It's a vote about who you WANT to see in the all-star game. Apparently some people want to see Lin and Rubio. Make it all coaches vote (or players vote -- like the Academy Awards) if people are gonna get their knickers twisted.
