Can someone please update me on how the NBA season is playing out so far? I really haven't been able to keep up with it being in college with no NBA channels. All I have is ESPN.com and clutch fans but its not enough. I do see that Durant has taken his game to the next level and the Thunder are playing very well. Are his efforts enough to de-throne Lebron from the MVP throne?
Still early to start giving for sure names, but if I had to throw some names... Melo LeBron Durant CP3 Duncan Z Bo Davd Lee
No one really deserves the MVP except Lebron. Year after year. Now, for second place consideration, Melo and Durant are neck and neck. What a freaking year Melo is having.
That could happen, but that would make MVP award completely worthless. It was already enough with Derrick Rose winning MVP. I mean my lord, Durant should at least have 3 MVP's award when you consider that Rose has an MVP award. Bulls would be close to .700 this year if the kept their bench(Asik, Korver,...). They were the best defensive and rebounding team with best bench in the NBA and that had nothing to do with Rose. To stay on the topic, there isn't a thing in basketball where Melo is better than Durant. Not even post game: Offense: Pts per 100 Poss. w/ Durant on the court: 117.6 Defense: Pts per 100 Poss. w/ Durant off the court: 103.1 Defense: Pts per 100 Poss. w/ Durant on the court: 102.1 Defense: Pts per 100 Poss. w/ Durant off the court: 112.2 Net +24.5 Melo has been great on offense, but Knicks are still better on defence with him on the bench(105.6 on the court, 102.9 off the court.) Knicks offense is unsustainable, currently they have the lowest turnover% in NBA history and highest 3PT% with at least 25 3PT attempts in NBA history. Melo didn't chance much this year, just personnel around him did. It's one thing if you have to play with Jeremy Lin who is useless without the ball and will turn the ball over like crazy when he handles it and it's another if you have point guard who can actually run a team.
Defense: Pts per 100 Poss. with Lebron on the court: 110.4 Defense: Pts per 100 Poss. with Lebron off the court: 101.1 Reason why Lebron should not be top 2 in MVP voting so far. He doesn't have length to defend PFs and is hurting Miami's defense. It's mostly not his fault, because Ray Allen and Lewis can't defend anyone and Bosh has been terrible on defense, but they have been much better with him on the bench which is weird.
Why would Anthony be more deserving if the Knicks finished first in the East, than would Durant if the Thunder finished first in the West? One player is a relentless ball chucker and occasional locker room cancer, while the other is the most efficient scorer in all of basketball. We may hear MVP chants at the Garden by Knicks fans, but what of it? It wouldn't make Anthony somehow worthy of the honor, particularly in comparison to the all-around standout season Durant is having.
Do you even watch the Heat? Their defensive problems are due to Bosh, Rashard, Allen, and not playing Joel Anthony enough. But right now, the top 2 candidates are Melo and Durant. Lebron's team has underachieved so far. But it's too early. MVPs won't be decided until April unless one team is by far and away the best team in the league between these 3 players.
Zbo and Lee? I haven't kept up with the NBA as much as I'd like either. Didn't realize they were doing so well.
No. He is Carmelo Anthony. Only if the sportswriters who vote on the award have zero imagination and haven't been watching much basketball this season. So in other words, "maybe." Absolutely, if the season were to end today. Nope. Already won it twice while having far better seasons. So no. ahaha, hell no
As a person who finds that commercial where LeBron James is on his phone in a barber shop hilarious, and who just started watching NBA basketball 1 week ago, I fully agree with this statement. What about Dwyane Howard, is he good too?
Melo 27.7ppg 6.6rpg 2.1apg 0.6bpg 0.9spg PER: 25.32 Durant 27.3ppg 8.6rpg 4.3apg 1.4bpg 1.5spg PER: 28.04 LeBron 25.5ppg 8.5rpg 6.8apg 0.8bpg 1.4spg PER: 28.93 I'd have to say of the 3 LeBron and Durant are having the better individual seasons. However Melo has the better team record. I wouldnt be mad if one of the 3 won it tbh. I give the edge to LeBron though
I would say Melo. He is actually trying on Defense and he is making others around him better. YES.. not by passing but with other things. He is actually hustling and etc.. Durant and Lebron should be in the discussion but I think Durant should if Melo won't because Lebron won it 3 times already and Durant does deserve it with his improvement on passing and he is actually going up for rebounds helping the bigs. Lebron would always be in the discussion but we already know what he can do but his team has been disappointing. Anyways Melo and Lebron have the highest chance on winning it because they are in a Big market team. Would you say Kobe if his team was winning?
It would be Dwight Howard in the MVP discussions again, had the Lakers flipped the script in LA. I suppose they theoretically still could, but eh.
