Ogletree is a beast. Really all of those Dawg defenders are going to do great things. For us I would look at Ogletree and Rambo if they're available. Also I am biased for the Dawgs
This is why people join forums...its their style/way of communicating...I do so because this is my style when i type on forums...if you dont like it...just ignore...have a blessed day...
lattimore is great but i really like tavon austin. that dude is like a video game. reminds me of desean jackson and chris johnson put together. i like the shayne skov kid from standford as 2nd round choice for ILB. i also like jordan reed and joseph fauria. fauria catches a ton of TDs and he has pedigree, his uncle is christian fauria. maybe somebody like ryan swope for mid round value. he can block and catch. nice 3/4th round value for a slot receiver.
I'll play along with this becoming an early "Who should the Texans Draft" thread. Great that we're not doing so because the seasons crashing to a halt. IMO: I don't anticipate another OLB going first. Depending on the Barwin negotiations, we could have a 3 man rotation. My guess is that they will select another guy, but probably later on in the draft. Kubiak just doesn't seem to feel the need to chase a RB or WR (or TE) in the first. He's such a system guy, he'd rather get more value by waiting a round or two and take a couple years developing them. He expects a lot out of his WRs in the blocking game and isn't in a rush to throw them out there. Wade does not advocate using premium picks on the secondary. His scheme prioritizes the front 7. My guess is that the team will see who falls to them, with an eye mostly on: OL depth NT ILB and a new 3-4 end to replace Antonio Smith I think in rounds 3-5, they'll start considering DBs, WRs, and TEs. Jokes aside, we could definitely stand a new block-first TE type. Dreesen is missed. I'd most like to see them upgrade the nose. Cody has held his own, Mitchell has improved, but it's the glaring weak spot and has been a major factor in the pass rush drop off. I've noticed teams shift their blocking scheme to "part the sea" - letting the outside rushers overshoot the pocket and open up a lane for the QB in the middle. Only with Watt inside have we eliminated that, and that allows them to double him more easily with less consequences (LT on Barwin, etc). We've also seen how quickly line depth can rear its ugly head. It wasn't a seamless transition, but Newton has slowly gotten to where he's a reasonable replacement for Winston....and of course, now he's hurt. Caldwell has been just as awful as he was a year ago stepping in for Brisiel. Brooks has been slow to develop. Ben Jones has done well shifting over. Gardner and Harris have looked slow and ineffective. Point being, you can never be too careful with your O-Line depth. We've seen the serious repercussions on the right side of the line in the run game and protection. I think we've got a good set of 5 starters, but bringing in a multi-positional talent like Barrett Jones (Alabama) or Dallas Thomas (Tenn) would be a coup. NT can't be ignored if the right talent falls to us. I doubt Jonathon Jenkins (GA) makes it to the bottom of the first, but if he does, that would be my pick, no hesitation. I'd even think about moving up to get him if the price is tolerable. ILB is the other major area of concern. Some folks were naive enough to say that we weren't going to miss a beat with Cushing out, but we've clearly not been the same without him. Wade's scheme often leaves the two ILBs alone at their level with sideline to sideline run and coverage responsibility. The scheme hums only when you've got exceptional quickness and instincts back there. While we've stayed strong against the run, James, Dobbins, Sharpton, and Ruud have shown that they can't be trusted dropping back against the pass. Unfortunately, that's the case with most LBs out there - very few excel or even want to cover TEs. We also can't blanketedly assume that Cushing will come back just like new. CJ Mosely (Ala) and Arthur Brown (KSU) are plausible hopes. As far as 3-4 ends, Sheldon Richardson (Mizz) and Margus Hunt (SMU) are a couple of options, but there's not a wealth of them in the first two rounds. I'd guess that we're most likely going to get an O-Lineman in the first, given the early projections at that position. But who knows - all one big guessing game for us.
I for one am getting sick and tired of posters going off on a tangent and ranting about B.S......... seriously...
