The opening tipoff is worthless. You are probably better off getting the first posession of the 2nd since posessions later in the game are more valuable. Hence why the Rockets NEVER win the opening tip. They are coached to not do so.
Randomly fire the ball out onto the floor from one of four court level tubes, like in hungry hungry hippos. That action itself would be suspenseful, & I wonder what strategies develop from it (i.e. everyone trying to box each other out, but from which direction, or small groups gathering around each tube outlet etc.)? For tie ups, you could just let players hash it out themselves until someone gains exclusive control. Then the refs will peel players off until they find out who ended up with the ball at the bottom of the pile.
someone needs to develop a mechanism that tosses the ball up perfectly everytime. otherwise the stupid officials sometimes just suck
umm if possessions later in the game are more valuable don't you want to win the jump ball? I believe you get the last possession starting the 4th qtr. Jump Ball winner gets Q1 and Q4 possession. Loser gets Q2 & Q3. Also I dont think it matters to start the game.. I just think the rule needs to be addressed when you have jump balls throughout the game. It's too inconsistent..
Well... This is kind of streetballish. Sometimes a player will obviously foul a guy, and someone will call it. After much debate someone will just shout "SHOOT FOR IT!" then each person shoots for it. If the person that accuses he was fouled misses then you promptly say. "Ball Don't Lie! That ball don't lie!"
Sliding mechanized door at center court, exposes a tube that fires it straight up? It could be dangerous. risk of falling into the tube vs. closing the panel fast enough, which could trap someone's leg making it worse. Someone's idea of dropping it from the rafters is probably best. I'd just really like to see a tube implemented here somehow though.
