There really isn't. It's why believers admit that they're reliant on faith. Also, there's this thing called probability. I can reasonably interpret a probability of something existence (i.e. aliens). Not everything is black and white proof for any atheist. Difference is, there's 0 proof for god. Not saying that believing in god is bad, there are plenty of reasons people do so. It just really annoys me when people make illogical arguments.
You can challenge that ONE or group of individuals who deviates from the logic you are referring to but it would not be fair to label it as an atheist's stand. It's like me saying all Christians are homophobic because of west baptist church. That would be an absurd statement.
There is proof of life in the universe, but no definitive proof of alien life (ie, not anything from earth). Until that time comes, no matter how overwhelming the evidence is you have to scientifically agree that there could very well not be life elsewhere in the universe. That's the point. No matter how much evidence points to the possibilities, until it is proven fact it is still having faith that the evidence leads somewhere.
If we were a limb off of the primate tree, we couldn't have evolved from modern primates. Modern being the key word.
Thank you for trying to explain evolution to me but I think I got it. I was answering a question you asked brah.
I generally prefer to listen/read, but not get involved in evolution discussions. I would like to point out one (slightly off-topic) thing though. The term "statistical evidence" is an oxymoron. IMHO, the field of statistics basically exists as a way to "prove" something without actually proving anything. Just my two cents. Carry on!
No, if I have to make a decision and there is a 99.999% chance something exists and a .001% chance it does not exist, I choose the 99.999%. That is the whole point of the discussion I thought....there is even a possiblity that evolution does not exist, but there is so much data and scientific evidence that points to its existence that it is ridiculous to say it does not. There is a small possiblity that I'll get in my car today and get into a fatal crash on my way to the store...am I going to make my decision not to go to the store based on a .001% chance of that happening? Cmon, that's ridiculous...
QUESTIONS on Statistical Evidence : 1. Statistical evidently speaking . . . Is there is other intelligent life out there? YES or NO 2. Statistical evidently speaking . . . Is it possible that there are some that are AT LEAST as smart as we are? YES or NO 3. Statistical evidently speaking . . . Is it possible that a life form of our level of intelligence has existed in time before . . say 1000000 year ago? YES or NO Rocket River
Poorly phrased question imo. I think that question really shows that 85% of people believe in a god. Evolution undeniably exists. If you doubt it then you are just being ridiculous and might as well argue that the world is flat and that the sun revolves around the earth too.
