The only thing we don't want is for OKC to get another star player. If they do, they will dominate the West in the next 5 years or so. A low lottery pick is fairly "safe" in NOT getting a star. If Toronto is at the bottom 3, it has a good chance that they may get bumped out from the top 3 picks, unless they are the worst team. So I'd root for them to win.
Best case scenario is Toronto getting a 6-12 pick in this years draft. I don't want OKC to have the Toronto pick in next year's draft.
I would argue that Best Case is the pick goes Top 3 Protected and Toronto lands an impact player, then never gets within the Top 10 for quite awhile.
Pssh! Worst case scenario would be 4th (or 3rd next year) and drafting another Thabeet/Darko/Williams/Beasley/Flynn and getting stuck with his contract. Best case scenario is 14th and Ibaka level player with his growth and impact. (Gobert?!?)
Assuming OKC gets Toronto's pick, who do you think they pick? Do they let Martin leave and take Shabazz? Do they draft a big man like Noel with the hopes he can be the frontcourt player on offense OKC lacks?

Errr rhr beat me to it. Marc J. Spears @SpearsNBAYahoo Raptors F-C Andrea Bargnani has a ligament tear in his right elbow and a strained right wrist. He is out indefinitely. Raptors G Kyle Lowry has a partial tear to his right triceps muscle and has a estimated return time of 10 days.
Imagine I'd be feeling pretty good with the Rockets of old Lamb, expiring Martin, Raptors 1st Our team would most likely be in the bottom 6 in the league too. Next year we could have 2 picks in the top 6, and a bunch of cap space. Could have done A LOT of things... happy with Harden tho
i am rooting for lowry, this guy works so hard, I hope lowry can get it back and take raptors to the 14th pick this year!!!!
Yeah, that approach would've worked too But I think Morey has stated many times it's grab an all star whenever it's available, Harden came up, so we grabbed him. IMO it's worth it even if the Raps pick turns out to be like 4th pick or something
What would it take to get Ed Davis from the Raptors? He's about to do really well with the minutes he's gonna get with softie Bargnani out for 2 months he's tough defensively, excellent PnR finisher both above and below the rim unlike PPat
The way I see it, the ceiling of most of the draftees this year was James Harden level, why take the risk that they don't pan out? Why not just grab the real thing? BTW, I'm entering my lotto conspiracy in now, Raptors get the first overall pick, only for Colangelo to draft a european player that doesn't play defense that no one has heard of. Not because he's trying to spite the FO before his contract expires, but because he legitimately thinks it's the best decision.
That Anderson guy too. He looks like a pretty solid player. The Raptors have had one of the most road games this season, probably tied for 2nd or 3rd if I'm correct. When the schedule balances out they will start winning more games. The more the Raptors win, the more the trade favors us.
