The funny thing is, I still don't think New England is that good. They're our biggest threat, certainly, but there are holes. Schaub had quite a few throwing lanes last night - unfortunately, he misfired on some and was also victimized by some terrible drops. On the other side, as disastrous as the first 16 minutes were, I liked the adjustments Wade made. The Pats aren't nearly as scary if you force them to make plays 20+ yards downfield.

What most worries me about a rematch is Wilfork. Maybe last night was an aberration, but I got a distinct 2009 Kris Jenkins vibe - that is, the enormous yet still somewhat agile DT that single-handedly blows up the smaller zone-blocking lines. Gary needs to go back to the drawing board on that matchup if we see them again.

    Stamp.

I agree. Which is why I never said such a thing. But please, be my guest to find and share those posts, keeping in mind the criteria *you* set, that I "wouldn't trade Schaub for any other QB."

NFL beat writers are now the judge and jury of elite status? By the way, is Andre Johnson elite? When was he an MVP candidate? How about Arian Foster?

    ...

You have no idea what that means, do you?

Based on watching the team play, perhaps?

Manning's arm strength has definitely improved...he was throwing floaters left and right at the beginning of the season. Their losses to the Falcons (early in the year) and the Patriots...both of those games were in their grasp until the final possessions. At least, they showed up better than the Texans when they had to go to Gillette stadium.

Its the manner in which they have been beating teams...they've had very solid control of the games, with no real evidence of weakness. Manning controls the offense nicely, and their defense is top 5 in the NFL.

Manning had his two worst outings in week 2 and 3 and he hasnt had a rating under 90 in any game since then. He has played the Chargers twice (top 10 defense) and Cincinnati (6th ranked defense). In the meantime, those Chiefs have a top 10 pass defense.

In the end, you can look at stats all you want...but I think watching a team is more effective way to measure. Unless youve watched every Broncos game, I think it would be a challenge for you to see whether or not they have improved.

They lost to Houston handily...but the games against the Falcons and Patriots were close. At the least, their chemistry has improved and the players are understanding and becoming more comfortable with how Peyton runs the show.

It is good to see that 1 Texans hiccup over the last month and a half have brought you back into full player eval mode.....

    This should sober you up....

Not really. I was pretty quiet while Matt when was tearing it up this year, too. This issue is deader than a doornail to me. We've all said our peace, we have our minds made up, and that's that. S*** happens, life goes on, ups and downs, good and bad. Lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what-have-yous.

    No Thanks....

Don't worry. If someone else posts anything with the words "Watt" and "Not Athletic" in the same sentence, I will be sure to become a "fan" of them, as well.

I've watched all but one or two. His early-season "floaters" sure didn't seem to impact his performance in Week 1 (129.4 rating) or Week 4 (130.0 rating), games in which the Broncos put up 31 and 37 points. They only seemed to impact him when he went up against a competent opponent. That's one hell of a coincidence.

By the way, did the Broncos really show up much more than the Texans at Gillette? They were down 31-7 by the middle of the third quarter. The only thing they did better than the Texans was put up points when the game was long over.

As far as the manner in which they're beating teams, I agree with you. The Broncos are a very good team. No matter who you play, it's tough to win eight straight games, especially while controlling each and every one from the outset. If you look back, I was one of the people saying after Week 3 that that win would end up as one of Houston's most impressive all year. Denver is very good. The only area we apparently disagree is that I believe they were very good in Week 3 as well.

Like it or not he makes a valid point. You seem to be on a mad tear today yet I don't recall this amount of activity in the past....hmmmm. So, what's the deal with that?

did you see the Oakland game last thursday, Peyton only could score 1 TD in the redzone, they have to set for 4 FGs in the red zone.
even Carson Palmer had more rating and more TDs than Peyton, with the same number of INTs.
