Well, this is already happens So, burial plots at Sam's Club should be next? Maybe cremation at Fry's? Back on topic. Did some more shopping. Got an offer of essentially $17,100 on a 2013 Ford Focus Hatchback SE with automatic transmission. Likely to go with it unless the dealer tries to play games.
What's wrong with the Focus? The other car I am looking at is the Mazda 3 but that seems to be a bit more expensive.
The Toyota is gonna give you more bang for your buck especially when you decide to sell it in the future.
RE the corolla, those things last forever. Seeing a 15 + yr corolla on the road is is pretty common. Much more so than a focus. My fam has had reliaiblity issues with the fords they've bought in the past. They moved to Toyota and have bought 3 in a row now.
Nothing against the Toyota brand per se, my family has 2 of them right now, including a 2000 Camry. Also had a Matrix back in the days (and AWD from 2003, handy when I lived up north). Now, it's just that we are looking for a compact HB, and the Matrix is kind of boring (I guess that's how Toyota likes it). Thus, looking at the Ford and Mazda. As for resale value-- I did some research online for predicted resale value (see here for example: http://www.cars.com/go/alg/index.jsp) and total cost of ownership, etc. Seems the Focus is at least competitive. Are these sources way off the mark?
Civic is a sedan only, no HB. Their CR-Z is a 3 door HB, looking for a 5 door. The one Honda fitting the description, the Fit, is rather narrow.
I'm in the market for a 5-door hatchback myself. I'll be test driving the Focus SE HB and Hyundai Elantra GT this Thursday. I'm not sure which way I'm leaning yet, but I am concerned about some of the issues from the 2012 model of Focus. From what I've read online, there have been some major issues with the powertrain and the MyFord Touch interface. It is unclear whether those issues are resolved this model year. Also, 2013 is the first model year for the Elantra GT, so they may have issues as well.
