If you have to ask, you can't afford it. :)

Went to Vegas for the first time last month. Definitely too hot to walk down the strip during the day. Interesting and all but definitely designed to separate you from your money, and not just the casinos. Thank goodness my husband is good at blackjack.

This is great advice. If you want a combo of the two, you can try Emeril Lagasse Stadium at Palazzo...it's pretty cool...it's like a Sportsbook / Restaurant.

The NYNY sports cafe used to be ESPN Zone before all the country's ESPN Zones shut down. It's a good place to watch, and it right next to the NYNY Sportsbook, which is one of the crappiest sportsbooks in town. Also, if Hilton Superbook..well, it's the LVH Superbook now...that's worth checking out once. They make their own lines and have the most prop bets available.

It's way off The Strip...but the M Resort has a really nice sports book.

Nope, December at the earliest; otherwise, would love to catch a game / make some bets. I'm going to move back one day.

Some Sportsbook tips from someone who is in Vegas about 5 times a year-

If you want to get in and get out with a bet then Id say either Ceasars or MGM is the way to go just because they do a very good job of displaying whats available to bet on, and there typically is alot of people working the line. Plus they deal with alot of newbies there, and are pretty patient with the people who dont know what they are doing.

If you want to actually chill somewhere and watch the game at the sportsbook during a major fight weekend, or the NCAA tournament it is going to be nearly impossible to sit down and relax comfortably at any of the major casino sportsbooks.

Ask a bartender or someone at the front desk if their sportsbook is hosting an event party somewhere around town. During the Superbowl they rent out the convention center with massive movie theatre screens brought it and its completely ridiculous. Im not even a huge NFL fan, and I usually hate the Superbowl, but it was one of the best times of my life. For a major fight, they will do some similar events as well.

At the Luxor there is a bar right next to the Sportsbook that you can sit at, but its something like 12 dollars for a jack & coke. However, if you put 20 bucks in the video poker machine, and bet small for a long time, you can get free drinks, and make that 20 dollars stretch for quite some time if you know how to play.

However, thats alot of effort to go through just to watch a game at the sportsbook with a million other people. My suggestion is to place your bet, then go to a sportsbar like the one in NYNY to watch the game, and get something to eat.

    Bump.

Planning on heading out for 3-4 nights Right after New Years.

Any opinion on Southwest or Spirit for flight?

I have Hotels down to Bellagio, Palazzo and Aria. Which one would be best because pricing is the same where I've looked.

Don't fly Sprit - POS value airline.

I've always been a huge fan of Bellagio - classy place with a nice central Strip location. Aria's good, but it's such a hike from the Strip since you have to walk all the way through the City Center. Aria has an excellent sportsbook, by the way. American Fish (Michael Mina) is pretty good there. Was a little disappointed by the tapas place, Julian Serrano.

I prefer the Cosmopolitan personally since it's the most modern and has the best restaurants (Scarpetta, Jaleo, etc) and Marquee is probably the best club in Vegas right now. I'm staying there this weekend actually.

Your hotel listings are all top notch. The final decision will depend on where you want to be on the Strip. Palazzo is north, Bellagio is Central and Aria is a bit further South that Bellagio. Aria is the newest of those 3 and is located next to many other nice hotels/shopping. I personally think Palazzo is the nicest of the 3 you have listed.

Flown Spirit once, I wouldn't advise it, Southwest is a better choice.

Hotel only - Aria, Bellagio, and some other MGM resorts are currently promoting a $100 resort credit along with 25% OFF daily rates if you book today. Expires today so recommend booking hotel reservations directly from hotel's website. Good luck!

Bellagio was starting to get that dated feel for their standard rooms (which are already sub-par compared to other Tier 1 Vegas resorts: Aria, Venetian/Palazzo, Wynn/Encore, Cosmopolitan). I think that they might have done some room upgrades this summer (when every hotel does their room and casino upgrades), but I'm not sure, and haven't looked it up yet. If you're staying at Palazzo, your worst room will be bigger than the smallest rooms at Bellagio and Aria. So if you stay at Bellagio or Aria, try to upgrade.

As far as the resorts non-room related. Bellagio is the freakin center of Vegas. Through all of the changes and developments, the fountains are still the biggest and best attraction. Your surrounding casinos are Caesar's Palace, Planet Hollywood, Cosmo, Aria, Paris...everything centers around the Bellagio fountains.

Now the Venetian/Palazzo complex is a top tier mega-resort that you don't have to leave because it offers everything you would desire in gaming, shopping, dining, and clubbing. But if you ever step outside, you're turning left, and walking south towards the Bellagio. The only time I ever visit the Venetian/Palazzo complex if I didn't stay there was to show 1st timers in Vegas or to play poker, because it is the #1 poker room in Vegas. Bellagio is #2 (mostly due to available games and legacy) and Aria is #2b. Bellagio's poker room is actually physically uncomfortable and kind of a crappy place. Its history allows it to succeed. Venetian and Aria are both newer, nicer, more comfortable, and next to much nicer sports books.

But I have to 2nd Baqui99's suggestion on Cosmopolitan. It is the built vertically and takes up less acreage than all the mega casinos, so it allows itself to be placed in the middle of everything. The rooms are excellent. The wrap around suite is the best square footage value for Tier 1 rooms in a Tier 1 resort currently in Vegas. It essentially built itself like a guest house to the Bellagio, but with better furnishings and balconies. And unlike Aria, it is easy to come and go. Aria is situated like a mansion in valley. It looks pretty from afar, but takes a solid 15 walk just to get there from the street. It tries to self-contain the guests because it's a ridiculous hike to and from the casino, through a couture mall. Venetian/Palazzo doesn't have that problem, but it's location just isn't great.

And RM95, how was your trip? Did you get to watch the Texans game? Does the Trop perfume overwhelm your senses?

Wifey and I had dinner at Maggianos last night (at the Fashion Show Mall) across from the Wynn. Drove home down the Strip past The Venetian and it looks like they have a pretty neat looking holiday exhibit outside. Might want to check that out if anyone is going to be in that area. Their Christmas tree looks pretty cool at night.

Parasol Down at the Wynn, like most places at the Wynn, is pretty chill, and it's right across the street from the Palazzo.
