I agree 100%. BUT, I think they are trying to build around Harden right now since he's a much better offensive weapon than Lin at this point.

TD is not a better player than Lin, but he complements Harden better.

It is a guess but it's the best theory I've heard for the unfathomable coaching decisions McHale has made in regard to Lin.

That's pretty much how I feel too. Wish we weren't overpaying him for 2 more years though..

If anything Lin should be given this year to show what he really is. Then trade him or whatever, but not like this... where he is not even given the full opportunity to show his skills. Doing it this way we will never really know. Is it the new system and teammates, his knee, his new role as spot up guard or all of the above? I think we should give Lin a ONE full season to show what he's got...win or lose.

That makes a lot of sense. Unfortunately there seems to be hidden ulterior motives at work here.

Yeah I think I mentioned that in another post somewhere. 1) They want a complimentary player to Harden. 2) Trying to save their jobs to get the W at all costs.

I would say the fact we're celebrating two solid but not great games from him is a testament to how awful he's been and I'd point out that even guys like Moochie Norris occasionally had a good performance. These guys are all professional basketball players. They're all capable of a decent night or two. Doing it consistently is the key to being good. Jeremy Lin has been consistent - ly bad.

You didn't read this on the "internet" per se. You read this on the CF game thread. a 2012er posted this post game. It sounds like pure speculation to me.

Makes sense. That would also explain why Harden is playing 40 minutes a game. The coaches simply aren't thinking long term.

What ulterior motives? Do you think there is ANYBODY who wants him to fail? There isn't a single person in the Rockets organization or a single Rockets fan who wouldn't LOVE for Lin to succeed. But he isn't owed anything but 8 million dollars a year. To the contrary, it's on HIM to live up to his contract. And so far, he's failing to do that. He's proving the haters right. And I don't care how much a fan on this board might criticize Lin - I promise you they would stop criticizing him and start praising him if Lin would give them a reason to.

Marcus Morris has turned the fans of this board around. People were calling for him to be cut before the season. Now he's been playing at a level consistent with the expectations of a player in the second year of a rookie scale contract so the hate has vanished and instead people are supportive of him.

Nobody with any love for the Rockets wants to see Lin fail. He's doing that all on his own.

If he's had 2 solid/good games as you admit, then he literally hasn't been consistently bad, by definition.

Moreover, he's had bad games, sure. But he's had other good games as well, not just the toronto/utah game - though they were the most recent. He's just been up and down and generally inconsistent overall. He hasn't been consistently good or consistently bad.

Hard to live up to your contract on the bench. How do you explain getting yanked when you're playing well like he was last night? And where was Morris - why did Parsons play 42 minutes when he couldn't guard Mayo and couldn't shoot. Asik kept fumbling passes and maybe that had something to do with his not playing the 4th Q but I doubt it. I think McHale came into the game with a pre-conceived faulty plan which is wht we lost. It's not Lin who is failing it's the coaching staff. Face it.

What about the game where he was making them? Isn't that where it counts!!
Sigh - too many haters to fight. This isn't worth it you can't argue with hate.

He is talking about the recent Utah and Toronto games.[/QUOTE]

But Shayan is correct in a way. After watching 20 games, I too believe Lin will never play at the Linsanity level again in Houston, not the way the coaches have been using him. He looks tentative and confused on the court because he is confused about his role on this team. Look at how different OJ Mayo has played on the Mavs this year vs last year. It's all about the fit. And as much as I have come to like this Rockets team with Harden, I don't think Lin now is in a good fit on this team. What a waste of talent. That's why for Lin's sake and for the team (he is not making a diffrence on this team anyway), I truly hope the Rockets will trade him to the Lakers.
