ClutchFans Game Thread: Mavericks @ Rockets 12/8/2012

Not sure if this makes anyone feel better or not, but the Heat are coming off of a 20 point loss by the same team that the Rockets beat by more than 2 a week or so ago.

The NBA is a funny league. Its a roller coaster ride season, with tons of peaks and valleys. Considering how young this team is, and how little time they have spent playing together, there will be more valleys than peaks this season most likely.

 

I don't like how the rotations went from Sampson's to totally different under Mchale's first game back.

Unless it was a message to some players from the SA game, but I think he just trusted the match ups. I just didn't like the rotations. Way too many minutes by parsons, and harden. (both injured just a tad)

PP played weak, and Asik I guess is hurt? I don't know? He only got 20 mins. ?

First half was good, then we ran out of energy in the 4th. Understandable after playing the night before, but still...tough game to have lost..yet again this season.

 

Oh I'm Sorry Asik doesn't like playing with a mask on his broken nose! Well Asik unless you don't want to play figure some cool mask thing out that protects that broken nose
that I didn't think was a big deal. Since he didn't act like it was one when it happened. I know that hurts, and they hit at him a lot, but I hope he finds a good mask. Tough Turkan!

 

I noticed you didn't mention Lin played only 18 minutes although he was playing well. Why is that?? Are you afraid of the haters?? Or are u one??

The only thing preventing the Rockets becoming a really good team is the coaching staff.

If Harden wants to take the next step in his game, he needs to improve his defense. It has been consistently nonexistent for the entire season. I think most games there's been a perimeter player who has scored season highs on us.

 

Mayo looks like the true Money ball player, just compare the contracts and output.

 

Finally someone mentions this!!! If he scores 39 and gives up 40 he might as well have not scored.

 

Not really. Harden is being paid 5 million and Mayo is being paid 4 this year.

Mayo's contract is up after this year (And Harden then becomes a max player next season). He'll get the max or anything close to that if he keeps this up. Just watch.

 

Harden didn't guard Mayo all night, just goes to show that maybe you weren't watching the game.

 

I watched the whole game and I realize that. Of course he didn't guard him the whole game seeing as how Mayo scored 15 in the 1st quarter and Harden couldn't guard him. If he stayed on Mayo all game he probably would have had 50.

 

Although I'm a little disappointed that Lin didn't get to play enough mins, I'm also really happy for Tony Douglas. TD is a good dude who cheered Lin last season wholeheartedly. He was ridiculed and bashed hard by the Knicks fans and didn't get the chance to play at all the whole second half of last season. Now that he is playing better and better and has gotten his confidence back, he might just got another nice contract when his current one is expired in less than 2 years. The dude is still young (only 26) and and has a family to support and I for one hope he has a long career ahead of him.

 

Another thing - Lin's man had scored zero when he was yanked after 6 minutes in the 1st quarter. Lin also had a nice drive when he was fouled and made a 3 pointer. Yet he was yanked for Toney and didn't get back in until the 3rd quarter. He played the whole 3rd Q and the Rockets were ahead when he went out. Face it the Rockets are doomed unless they get new coaches.

 

I like TD personally too. However he is making 2 million this year so I don't feel too sorry for him. On the other hand the Rockets will lose more than win with him playing substantial minutes.

No, he wasn't even on him in the 1st quarter. Mayo was never his assignment the entire game.

 

Who was he guarding then??

 

Lin's man was also Derek Fisher.

Lin was yanked but did not come back in because the team on the floor came back from a 19 point deficit. The lineup on the floor was working. The problem was in the 4th quarter when the Mavs had countered that lineup McHale did not counter back.

I don't know about doomed. McHale's rotations are scary and puzzling, we'll see if they will still overachieve. They are still in a good spot, they just have had a really tough schedule as of late.
