Didn't watch the game because I was out but saw the boxscore and went into instant rage seeing the point differential in the 4th quarter. I've gone over the plays in the ESPN play by play page and the 4th is even more painful than I thought. So Lin gets benched for the "superior" defender because of OJ Mayo (shouldnt Harden be guarding the opposing SG? just a thought). Mayo scores 16 pts in the 4th quarter. 16 frigging points. Meanwhile we attempted 11 3pt (I won't count Harden's last 3pt since it was 2 seconds left) shots in the fourth...while Dallas was fielding a small lineup Our defensive MVP is rotting away on the bench during this time for some reason. I'm getting tired of this "Toney Douglas is such a superior defender" bs. If his defense is so good it warrants benching our starting PG in favor of him during OT and big showdown games, then just BENCH LIN and start Toney every frigging game already. I'm tired of this bull. Bench Lin and start Toney and hope that he figures out how to do something other than a shot selection that would make Mobley blush. His defense is so damn good, put him in already and stop this giggly teenage girl hand wringing crap. [obligatory coaching rant] benching 2/5's of your starting lineup just because the other coach does something different? Really? That's a recipe for winning? Is this something we should expect to see everytime another team goes small? Do we have a GM who pays attention to the many curious (nice of way of saying STUPID) moves of the coaching staff since last season? We got rid of Kyle FRIGGING Lowry for this coach and his staff?
Asik gets sent to Toronto for a bag of donuts during the offseason. Morey signs Cole Aldrich to a 30 million dollar contract after he averages a double double for the last 5 games of the year.
Fourth quarter tonight summed up this team's shortcomings. 1. No focus on defense. Does our coaching staff ever take out a guy for playing bad defense? 2. No movement on offense. I am getting really sick of this iso-oriented offense. 3. Too many 3's. Did we just get Novak back on the team or what? Why are we shooting so many 3's????
McHale's apparently never heard of going big against a small lineup to outrebound and bully them in the paint... sorta frightening to think that raining 3's was the go-to offense the entire freaking game too.
Oddly enough, they do take out the PG for playing supposed bad defense. Coincidentally, the ball movement completely decreases when he's not on the floor. The starting PG's replacement? a guy who can only shoot ugly looking 3's that go in every once in a while when he has remembered to sacrifice a goat before the game.
Yup, Lowry and Martin were right. McHale is simply a terrible coach and it's pretty hard to find a coach that is an actual negative to his team.
This is nothing different, Mcfail loves his small line ups since last year he was ending games with Scola and Patterson and screwing us out of numerous games why Camby and Dalembert sat.
McHae postgame interview http://www.nba.com/rockets/video/201...eTVmp4-2319783 He complains about ball movement in the interview (even though taking Lin out hurts ball movement). He explains that he put TD in there bc of his energy, and that he brings the ball up faster, and that he might be able to stop Mayo. That's okay as an experiment, but he doesn't adapt to what he is seeing in the game at all. He also explains that he went small at the end bc Mavs were going small... Which is not really much of an explanation.
i'm ok with they went with that lin up into the 4th quarter since it works before the half time, what disgust me was they stubbornly stick with it the whole 4th quarter when everything was falling apart
I take back everything bad I said about JVG. Bring this guy back because he will fix the defense and teach these assclowns how to play half-court offense. My Y's team plays better defense than Rockets showed tonight.
Chickens that get their heads cut off run around with a lot of energy too. Mayo scored 16 pts, he couldn't stop him. Is he blind?? This guy NEVER won at Minnesota, why the hell is he still here??
Toney Douglas plays good defense because he has the luxury of being able to foul aggressively in the small minutes that he plays. Lots of reaching in trying to poke the ball out of someone's hands.
Better yet, did we really get rid of Adelman for this guy? McHale was a great player, one of the best lowpost players but as a coach, he doesn't have a clue what he is doing.
