Most of us want to see JLin succeed but he's not good enough right now. He's weak and afraid. At this point, I'd rather him have a few Raymond Felton-esque games where he just comes out and shoots 25 times. Even if he goes 35-40% FG, it's better than being 3/8, 4/7, or even 6/10. Dude needs to be more aggressive.

If he's afraid of criticism, not shooting is not going to relinquish that. LeBron did the same thing in the 2011 finals and that's probably the biggest mistake of his career. People would be more ok with him shooting poorly like Kobe than trying to be a "team" player. Of course LBJ is many times the player that Lin will ever be, but given the expectations, the situations are somewhat similar. You have to come out and take it. If you fail, that's better than not trying.

I would post the numbers, but I'm way too lazy for that. I do know that my eyeball test tells me differently ( no doubt this can be subjective ). Douglas is average at best, makes some dumb mistakes and has a lot of trouble defending screens/makes the wrong decision. Lin has slightly above average on ball d and quick hands/decent instincts. By no means is he the excellent, but I personally wouldn't hesitate in saying he is better than Douglas.

What stats are you referring to?

In my OP in this thread, I was referring to the stat that said: Lin -9, Douglas +2. Hence my conclusion that the Rockets played better with Douglas on the court than without him.

And how many points OJ Mayo scores has almost nothing to do with who is the better defender. Just watching the games, Douglas is the more aggressive defender and puts more pressure on the ball. He's very active.

I don't think anyone said that Lin got torched by Mayo. Lin wasn't even on Mayo.

Well I'm just going off the "eyeball" test as well. Lin's an average defender individually, his best strength is quick hands.

I think Douglas stays in front of his man better, puts more pressure on the ball handler, and therefore I think he's a better defender than Lin. I think Lin is better at everything else though, save for maybe 3 point shooting, but Douglas is streaky.

The facts need to be benched. They aren't getting the job done.

Alright guys I've had fun debating you, but I'll stop responding. I hope Lin does better in the next few games, he needs the confidence. I'm not sure why some are acting as if I hate Jeremy Lin, but I encourage everyone to actually read my posts and try to be unbiased. Just because I criticize one aspect of a player's game doesn't mean I dislike him.

    Good night.

It's not about how many shots he should take, he won't force the shots if they're not there. That's called good decision making. He's not perfect at that yet, but his idea has always been to "take whatever the defense gives us". If he has good looks, he should take the shot. If he's doubled, he'll find the open man (which he often does). It's irresponsible to just take shots that are not there.

I remember in an interview he said he watched other PG's video, one of them was Felton. When asked what was there to learn from Felton, Lin said Felton passes the ball when he's doubled while comparing to himself for sometimes hanging onto the ball for too long.

Just so we're clear, I didn't post the numbers in response to your comments.

For someone with no bias you sure have pretty selective memory.

Anyway it was pretty fun seeing you get owned but I'll have to put you on my. Ignore list.

NBA defenses are too good. All stars/superstars take many force shots.

Why so many fans think TD plays better D? From either the eye test or stats, for me Lin plays much better D.

For the rest of the Lin Vs TD arguments, I may not agree, but I can understand for both sides' points.

I hope Lin somehow can build up his confidence or he will not lead his career anywhere, coaches should help and support him on that especially at this moment I don't see himself achieving that.

Harden plays bad D, but he alone carries the offense, I don't blame him. Though I don't think it's right for one player to carry the whole on the O end.

Epic fail on coaching part tonight.

Holy cow, 9/30? Even Kobe's probably shaking his head.
