Lin was not known as a great shooter. I think he gained a lot of confidence during that Linsanity period and that helped him a lot and he was able to hit some clutch shots. Right now he doesn't have much confidence with his shooting and it is showing.

I'm not a Lin hater - but you may be delusional. Lin has been undeniably bad this season. His best games were pretty solid performances - but his worst have been abysmal. I hope he turns it around. He seems like a hard worker and a good kid. But I can't defend his play thus far into the season, and I can't see how anyone else can either. I mean, if the best you can say for him is, "He isn't the only one who has played terrible..." then you're not exactly standing on solid ground.

And the thing is - he earned the scrutiny. He signed the big contract, now he's expected to play up to it. It's as simple as that. If, for example, both Lin and Parsons have a bad game but Lin is making 8 million per year vs. Parsons making 800 thousand per year, who do you think is going to get the most criticism? It's only natural.

Not saying he won't regain it, but it will take some time and a lot of work.

I think the last game that Lin took more than 2 FT attempts was the Atlanta game where he almost got the triple double. He needs to get to the line more!

I wish everyone is as civilized and reasonable as you. I understand the scrutiny and criticism, Lin would agree to it all, and then some. It's just the hatred expressed on this board that is ugly. How can someone who played 82 career games attract so much hatred? It's not like he was trashing talking or boasting or anything like that.

But then, it's the Internet. You never know whose fingers are on those keyboards.

Hi, welcome to a fan base who adores Yao Ming, a seven foot five Asian gentleman who played at an all star level for multiple years.

Race has nothing to do with it. Being a terrible basketball player does.

Hey, I still have Fox Sportsnet Southwest on my television - this might be the first game of the season that I can actually watch on television!

I'm starting to become numb to Lin's play. Maybe i've just come to grips that it probably isn't going to improve this season.

I didn't watch last night's game but heard Lin actually had a decent game (of course everything beside shooting) AND had moves that showed he is at his best physical form this season. It gives me hope about Lin breaking out of his slump tonight.

Pre-season discussion of Kelvin Sampson on the Lin/Dallas matchup last year (where Lin had 28 pts, 14 assists in a win):

JCF: You had Jeremy Lin in for the abbreviated training camp last year, but do you almost have to rediscover his game as well?

KS: Absolutely. I was watching tape on him yesterday – I watched New York and Dallas – and Jeremy had such incredible freedom; he was their offense when he was on the floor. They put him in pick-and-rolls, they’d screen him and then re-screen him. He would attack the rim and if he could get to the rim he did, and if not he’d kick out and they’d play. With us, we’re going to give him some freedom because obviously he’s good at that, but we’re also going to have rules in our transition offense that he’s going to have to learn so it’s going to be interesting to see how he picks those things up.

So Sampson does knows that pick-and-rolls worked well for Lin against Dallas. Will we see some of those tonight?

As much as I hate the Mavericks and Cuban, it's pretty true. We've been largely a non-factor for the past 20 years, and we've been a pushover for the Spurs and Mavericks for a good chunk of the past decade. Complain all you want about fixed officiating or bad calls, call them the ponies or floppers, say that Dallas is a ****ty city or whatever. If we want him to shut up, then we have to beat them on the court

Whatever the reason his shot was fine last year and he hit several 3 pointers to wi games last year. Point is if he did it before he can do it again. I'm not saying he'll ever be a Kevin Durant but he'll shoot good enough to keep the defense honest. I think a combination of factors have hurt him - first I don't think he had the leg strength earlier in the season coming off the injury. We all know how important your legs are to your shot. The second thing is that the interim coach has not shown confidence in him at times. McHale will be back soon (maybe tonight) and hopefully that will help.

Marion ruled out for tonight. Kaman most likely will play.

But the fact is he is not a terrrible basketball player which you would realize if you were not so prejudiced.

"Jeremy Lin is a very good point guard"
    - Mike Di'antoni

Are you saying you know more than an NBA coach??

    Yes.

Lin is terrible, just like Dantoni.
