@NIKEstrad, I think this is a confusing point because the whole point of the article, the point that made it newsworthy, WAS that the Blazers would have to foot the bill, but here we are talking about something peripheral to that. So think of the article as a historical record and less of an outline of what is actually being discussed. If that helps any?

Am we conflating the concepts of guaranteed salary and insurance reimbursement? It sure sounds like we are. :(

If he's not injury prone, he's still a dumb douche bag.

We already have royce who fills that position.

Well, I can tell you one thing is that trading for Bynum would be a bad idea. If Philly would trade him, they pretty much would want a lot of assets in return. The Rockets have to give up Martin, Lamb, and 2 first rounds for Harden, so I imagine Philly would want something similar in return.

Right now, Bynum most likely won't even play this season at all, plus given the fact that he is an incredibly lazy player. Its no point in giving up a lot of our young players who's really productive and growing for a player who's already a big red flag with his knees.

Remember how a lot of us were talking about how the Lakers got away with it by trading away their broken down player for the best center in the NBA? Well, Philly may not be getting the same value for Bynum like LA did but they will pretty much demand some good values back for Bynum if they're going to trade him. If Morey wants him that bad, just wait til FA when he becomes a FA and just sign him since he have the cap space for it.

Some of you keep saying " Its the NBA and you have to gamble in order to win"... Well, apparently, gambling in order to win will most likely end up bad. The smarter way to win instead of just gambling is making smart choices and be patience. Remember, the Rockets are the youngest team in the NBA so you can't just rush them and believe that by trading away a bunch of pieces for Bynum, the Rockets will automatically be contenders because they will not. By being a good team, you have to make smart choices and be patience.

Asik is a better center. No joke.

You realize that disability insurance is different than the insurance on a contract right?

I just don't see the need with Asik and Greg Smith's emergence.

Bynum can be the 2nd best player on a title team. Asik & Smith can't be.

I wouldn't trade for him though. We already gave up 3 potential lottery picks and paid a guy max dollars that is a #2 guy. Doing something like that again, but this time for an injury prone guy would be crazy.

You can't expect every player to be a saint. Douche bag or not, Bynum can flat out play.

    I wouldn't call 1 game an emergence.

He did it against the best defensive center in the league. It has nothing to do with one game. He passes the eye test and doesn't seem like a JAG.

This is false. Roy gets his money from his contract no matter what. The only thing that changed was the percentage that the Blazers pay out. Had he not been able to return then the insurance would have paid 80% of the remainder of his contract and Portland would pay the other 20%. Since he was able to return to the court for the minimum amount of games that he did the Blazers have to foot the entire bill.

I wouldn't call it one game. He has looked like a star for one game, but his overall brief career has been impressive aside from being foul prone. In limited minutes he has been a positive on both sides of the ball.

Harden is not be a top 5 player now, but there is a very good chance he becomes that. Looking at how long it is taking the Lakers to gel makes me very hopeful on how good Harden actually is.

Completely agree on Bynum's injury concerns. Based on what I've heard from doctors, I doubt he ever returns to form. Poor Philly.

Let's trade for him and the T-Wolves can trade for Gasol then we flip Bynum for Love and Gasol and Bynum will be reunited! Everybody wins!

Harden might. I hope so, but I'm not counting on it. Of course you don't need a true #1 to win a title, as long as you have the right group, it is just harder to accumulate that much secondary talent.

    Some of yall are funny.

Asik is not better than Bynum...when both are healthy. I don't even want to discuss that. He's even younger...

The only reason Bynum would be available because there is a good shot that he's damaged...not damaged in a "Oh, he'll be out for a year and come back" damaged but a "Will he ever be the same" kind of damaged.
