His job is to be a sort of magnet for other great players, but if he's actually out there politicking on behalf of the Rockets?

Man that is some great above and beyond right there, especially for a player so new to the team.

Yes, he's been struggling and his shot hasn't been falling blah blah blah, but it's hard not to be pleased with the Harden acquisition in every other sense.

Funny how players can recruit other players who are presently under contract - and it's not considered tampering....

How can you possibly police/stop them? Especially when a lot of them are friends?

Going to have someone follow them around in the night clubs? At dinners? On the golf course? At the strip clubs?

It's a given, especially post Miami that players talk to other players, especially those who play on Olympic teams, have played on the same NBA team, knew each other from college, etc.

If you're sitting at dinner with another player and say, "When are you going to get out of that dump? You should haul butt to Houston!", are you going to call that tampering?

The difference is, players talking to players have NO direct impact on contract negotiations. A player can't offer another player a contract, or negotiate on behalf of the franchise, or guarantee them play time or even a parking spot.

So yah, it's Not tampering. Not unless you want to plant a bug on the NBA players.

    Who exactly are our options?

    Howard, Paul, Smith, Jefferson, Cousins?

Crazy thought, but what the hell. It was mentioned a while back the Lakers would make a run at LeBron when he can opt out. Is it so far-fetched to think LeBron would come to Houston?

    A man can dream.

Harden is trying to get together a team of three to four superstars in Houston, when that is what he already left in OKC (Yes, he got paid!)

Harden pulling a Kmart. Even though what he says is true, shows poor leadership skills imo. Great way to motivate your scrub teammates, oh leader!

"I'm trying to play with some of my friends in the future, but for right now I'll have to make do with these bunch of losers..." - James Harden.

    Lol.

Some of you are looking at it all wrong. These guys know what they are, and they know what they need to win. Chandler Parsons is not a superstar, Jeremy Lin is not a superstar, Omer Asik is a great defensive big, but that's where it stops. Look at the player's reactions when we got Harden, none of them seemed upset by losing Kevin Martin or Jeremy Lamb. These guys want to win, and everyone knows you need at least 2 stars to win in this league. They're pro basketball players, I'm sure their skin is thick enough to not let this bother them.

James Harden is the human Daryl Morey. He treats teammates like assets.
