NO, Patterson needs playingtime to get his value higher, --> Jones and D-Mo for the taking.

Give it some time (trade dead line).

Absolutely NO reason for Golden State to make this trade, but a fan can dream cant he?

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ctewfqt

Rockets get: David Lee, Charles Jenkins

Golden State gets: Patterson, Aldrich, Douglas, and a 1st rounder (we still have 1 left dont we?)

LOL Raptors would love that trade. I see Raptors fans just salivating right now. Not sure Houston would like that though. I'd lose a lot of faith in Morey if that trade happened.

i think it would be a decent trade - Obviously patterson has more moves in the post than bargnani... but Bargnani has height, basically the same stats as patrick but is more a consistent 3 pt shooter... I'd actually play him as a PF as a dirk type player where i think Bargnani is more suited for.

    Rockets to Pelicans: TJones, Morris
Pelicans to Rockets: Ryan Anderson, Greivis Vazquez.

The Pelicans reunites Anthony Davis with his buddy Terrence, gets another younger cheaper talent in Morris.

Rockets get an elite spread 4 (with good trade value) and balances the roster with a good versatile guard.

I have a question about free agency. A player that is going to be a free agent at the end of the year say Chris Paul, Can he sign an extension with his team at anytime during this season?

Veterans on long deals like Chris Paul -- yes, until free agency starts. Rookies had a deadline, and it's passed. Veterans on short contracts - can't be extended.

I don't want to stir up any controversy -- I know it's too soon and knee-jerk -- but Bill Simmons said he thinks Houston will trade Lin because he doesn't fit with Harden. Isn't he close to Morey?

I see Morey giving it more time, but IF they were to trade Lin -- which teams would want Lin? Right now his value probably isn't very high, because of his contract, shooting woes, etc. Also, Houston has been playing him off the ball a lot -- so he isn't showing to advantage.

I could see him on the Lakers as Nash's backup, but Morey doesn't want Gasol now, I don't think.

Does Morey have to ask for Lin's agreement to be traded in the first year?

Anderson's playoff performances scare me. I think most coaches know how to game-plan for him, it's just hard to get your players execute that game-plan during the regular season simply because Anderson is so different from your average PF.

Don't get me wrong, I like Anderson, but ultimately he's a specialist and I'm not sure I want to tie up my cap space for him if I'm the Rockets.

Then again, having watched like 3/4 of his games with the Magic, maybe I'm simply over-analyzing it/him as player.

    no.
But i'm sure Morey doesn't tell Simmons anything of the sort.
However, Simmons has a point. Lin has to get much better at making shots, otherwise it's a flawed pairing.

I havent followed Anderson as closely, so maybe this is wrong, but Have you watched many Hornets games this year? It seems to me from seeing a few NOH games recemtly that he has added some skills. Seems that he was more of a spot shooter with Dwight but is getting plays run for him this season (running around off multiple picks Ray Allen style almost), also a good offensive rebounder for a "spread 4."

Bad fit defensively. Most of the time posters here complain about Patterson's defense it's because he's forced to help because of the leaky backcourt.

You might be right. I've only seen two quarters of the Hornets (vs. HOU) this year, so I really couldn't tell if Anderson indeed has added to his skill-set.
Usually I pay little attention to playoff-performance by players -- small sample size and all -- but in Anderson's case the difference seemed noticeable just watching the games.

Perhaps SVG simply limited Anderson's role in ORL, too. As good a coach as SVG is, his offenses have always been pretty simple/generic and the Magic had few perimeter shot creators -- which both might have factored in in teams being able to limit Anderson in the playoffs.

Maybe, maybe no. I guess only time will tell. I don't think the Hornets would go for your deal, though. :p

Kudos for bringing this up. I know it can create drama in a hurry here on the GARM, but IMO its worth discussing.

The Jeremy Lin contract should be tradeable along with all newly signed rookies, & free agents on December 15th. That's the unnofficial start to NBA trading season when those players signed in the Summer are available for trade.

Morey and Simmons are buds, but I would take what Bill says with a grain of salt. Simmons' opinion going back this Summer was that NY should have matched the offer, and he could have been traded in year 2 before the puntative lux tax implications set in. So this is just carrying his opinion over to the Rockets way of thinking.

Much like what Bill Simmons is saying here, ther is virtually no way Morey ever thought that he would want to or be able to trade Jeremy Lin(if he performed bad) in year one. Year two or three... absolutely. That's because the length of the contract, and Lin's star power does make him very tradable as early as year two. This year, and given his poor scoring numbers probably make him a bit tougher to deal.

In the first year of his contract, the Rockets knew they would be flirting with the league minimum in salary so they must have said to themselves "So what?"

So my opinion here is that Lin will be a Rocket throughout this season at the very least. This isn't a contending team right now that needs to make knee jerk reactions to the roster just to win a couple more games right this second.

That being said, next season if he's still not a good fit next to Harden, and there is a market for Jeremy, Im 100% certain that Morey wouldn't think twice about pulling the trigger to trade Jeremy Lin.

Right now, its tough to see a trade going down unless it involves a star player coming to Houston, and right now I dont think Pau is that guy.
