trends downward quickly as the game goes on.

Does anyone have a stats source by quarter?

If what I think is happening, is indeed happening, there must be something with his minute allocation or his conditioning that needs to change.

    Has anyone else noticed this?

Yes, I look up the box score and he inevitable has about 5 to 6 rebounds in the first quarter only to end up with 12-13 by game end. Part of it has to do with playing big minutes in the first quarter (12 min several times) and part has to do with the soft Patterson at PF.

He is a pretty big guy I think the pace of the game does effect him.

Yep, he gets tired and less energetic on the boards.

Although this last game against the Lakers is not a great example of that, as he only played 24 minutes due to foul trouble, and then didn't even play in the fourth quarter if I'm not mistaken.

He didn't play as long in the second half. Smithsanity was in full effect.

Yeah, that tends to happen when you have other big people hanging off of you all game.

Question: What about his minutes distribution though? Did we take that into consideration.

Yes, that's why he looked at rebound percentages (percentage of available rebounds) instead of total rebounds, since those would vary based on MPG.

Well that's somewhat encouraging if I'm not missing something. Tells me if he can get his conditioning/endurance up he could dominate the boards even more than he already is. Still room to improve....

No problem. It's not surprising that Asik is hitting a sort of conditioning "wall" in the second and fourth quarters. This is the first time he's playing consistent starter's minutes in the NBA.

I wouldn't stress too much if he seems slow or tired at times. He's a young guy playing his butt off, and the conditioning will catch up in time.

I dont think it's fair to look it as a downward trend, more like he starts very high and levels out. If he kept up the pace he'd average an insane 18 boards a game. I'll gladly take the 12-13 at his size.
