I'm almost certain Royce would sue for libel and defamation if that happened. I believe he claims to be perfectly healthy and not suffering from any anxiety attacks, just that he wants to ensure the safe working conditions exist that ensure he will continue to free from anxiety attacks.

He's within his legal and ethical rights to request such safe working conditions. As to what he considers "safe working conditions", who the hell knows. It would certainly be in the franchise's interest to work with him so as to not squander a pick, and from the outside looking it, it would seem that they're doing that by picking up the bus tab and such.

Personally, my suspicion is that it's just avoidance behavior on his part coupled with character issues separate from his illness. He seemed to take glee in refuting some twitter about not having to go to the D-League. So clearly it's not all about basketball or mental health, but a fair amount of ego and emotional maturity issues that are separate from his anxiety illness.

Just look at his twitter rampages and how he's delighted in hogging the spotlight doing interviews and getting into twitter wars with journalists.

I expect him to be out of the league or off the team when his contract is up or prior. It's not the mental illness that's keeping him back, but his ego/emotional maturity. The most the Rockets can expect out of him at this point may be the use of his contract as an expiring or salary filler in a trade.

A real pity since he did show some ability, but also some weaknesses that require development, preferably with playing time in the D-League. Instead of helping the cause of #anxietytroopers, he's actually hurt them by deterring teams from drafting someone with a manageable mental illness who doesn't have Royce's character/entitlement/ego issues. He's ruining his career and the career of other NBA-hopefuls following his footsteps with every immature tweet instead of behaving like a professional and quietly working things out with the team and doctors.

Is he practicing at all or is he just in his room all day making music and tweeting about nonsense?

I'm pushing as hard as I can trying to understand what other privileges this brat wants that will satisfy him enough to do his job.

Whatever privileges it takes for the Rockets to say no, so Royce White can sit at home collecting a paycheck without doing his job.

 

I just want him to rise above the confines of his individualistic concerns to the concerns of all Rockets fans. He can worry about humanity all he wants after he retires.

Royce White is really Ho Chen?

 

I would really like to know what he is thinking. If he really believes, all of this could help other players with anxiety in some way - and that all of this could help his professional basketball career, then he has more problems than he thinks...

Right now all he is doing is showing the world: don`t ever bet on an athlete with anxiety problems - because even if you try to work it out with him, it won`t be enough. He will just cause more problems than you can solve.

If he doesn`t get his act together soon, he will never see the court - and no other athlete with anxiety disorder will ever be picked in the first round again (or at least until one shows, that Royce Whites problems aren`t directly connected to his anxiety disorder).
