It's pretty evident we're a better team when Lin is the primary ball handler.

Good question. Yes and no. I'm actually Irish though of Indian ethnicity, though that would be S-E asian vs what most people in the west refer to as Asian which would be Chinese/Japanese etc.

I used to find it very confusing a while back, where Asian meant Chinese. I was like... but Asia is a big continent...

If Lin were black or white, he woulda been a top 15 pick, IMO.

I have no intention of converting the haters. They are beyond redemption.

He’s the only NCAA Div I player who ranked in the top 10 for
Scoring average 17.8 /Rebounding 5.5 / Assists 4.3 / Steals 2.4 / Block shots 0.6
Field goal percentage 0.502
Free throw percentage 0.744
Three point percentage 0.400
He was a consensus selection for ALL-Ivy League First Team

Senior year 2009-2010
Scoring average 16.4 / Rebounds 4.4 / 4.5 assists / 2.4 steals / 1.1 blocks

He was the first player in the history of the ivy League to record at least…

That is very cool. Separately, nice earlier post as well, and I can't help but think that your personal "diversity" helps you see things from a different (and perhaps fairer) lens.

Actually, I did get bullied in high school, very briefly. Then I fought the bully -- and lost. He was a senior and I a freshman, and he must have outweighed me by at least 20 pounds, so my loss was not surprising. However, I made victory so expensive for him that he never bothered me again. No one bothered me again.

So that is my advice to you: don't fear the bullies; fight them and they will go away.

Similarly, there is no need to fear that you might make new enemies here. The vast majority of Rockets fans want Lin to be great, as that makes a championship more likely. The tiny minority of hating pinheads will hate no matter what; your duty is to fight them.

Wrong. Here are the scaled statistics again:

Lin Kidd
Year 2012-13 1995-96
Usage Rate 18.2 24.3
Points** 15.2 16.0
Assists** 9.2 9.3
Turnovers** 4.0 3.9

If "usage rate" was a random, arbitrary number, why do Lin's adjusted points, assists, and turnovers so closely match Kidd's corresponding stats? All three of them, at the same time?

If you claim "coincidence", you'll have to explain why Lin's numbers were almost identical to Kidd's last season.

Face it, Lin is tracking Kidd's career path.

As I said, neither Rubio nor McMillan (your examples) had anything close to a Linsanity period. Lin did, so his potential is far higher than theirs. Apparently you didn't understand that.

You realize that Lin is just starting his career? Kidd didn't have his almost triple-double seasons in his first year, or in his second year either.

I wanna know how exactly you "adjusted his usage%" and how exactly his assists numbers changed because of the scaling.

Unlikely. The vast majority of Rockets fans want Lin to be great, as that makes a championship more likely. The tiny miniory of hating pinheads will hate, regardless. What I say makes little difference in the number of haters, but hopefully gives the majority more reason to cheer for the Rockets.

I think they make these comparisons to prove that he doesn't SUCK. Not saying he is as good as they are...

You think it makes more sense to compare to Earl Watson or Mo Williams? Maybe. But it I'm not sure if it would carry as much weight.

The draft constantly compares prospects to stars. Why? Well the star comparisons are sexier of course..but also because we are, in general, much more familiar with them.

Maybe compare him to the Kyle Lowry and Ty Lawson's of the world? Might make more sense...
