All this proves is that Trayvon popped him a good one before he got shot.

Whether that punch to the nose was justified remains to be seen, as Zimmerman clearly initiated the confrontation.

Regardless of the answer to that question, one thing we should all understand is that shooting someone, especially fataly so, because they punched you is not a justifiable response.

It is if they are winding up to punch you again. It's called self defense. If someone is still swinging after breaking your noise that badly then a gun is the proper response. Don't risk some punk kid giving you permanent brain damage. defend yourself.

If an armed man confronts you, is punching him "self-defense"?

Not unless he threatens you with it. I see people with concealed hand guns all the time.......

If they're black, I'm sure he is imagining they are...hoping they are if he has his gun...scared out of his mind if he doesn't.

It must be a sad existence worrying that if you don't have your gun you might get brain damage from "punk kids".

Are you suggesting I have a desire to kill black kids?

Wasn't the narrative (admittedly GZ's) that while wrestling on the ground, Martin went for the gun and was shot in the aftermath of that wrestling? That is a decidely different scenario from GZ needlessly brandishing a gun and casually shooting Trayvon.

He's suggesting that you have horrible logic. A broken nose?!?! Obviously self defense!

I think the narrative of GZ casually brandishing a gun never happened since it was obvious a fight had broken out. Nobody does anything "casually" during a fight. The fact the gun made it out in the first place is pretty stupid.

I tracked you down, confronted you, and you kicked my ass, SO I GET TO SHOOT YOU.

That doesn't really match up with other facts. There doesn't appear to be evidence that Zimmerman chased Martin after the fight or that Martin attempted to hide somewhere. Witnesses that saw and heard the altercation don't note that Martin was running or that the fight started one place with Zimmerman shooting Martin another.

Keep in mind I am not saying that means Zimmerman is innocent just that I don't think you recreation is correct.

Everyone say it along with me:

"I am not sure what actually happened, so I withhold judgment. It's not like my judgment actually matters much anyway."

Not if you started the confrontation. The person you were fighting with would likely be guilty of assault if they continued to attack you after you were beaten but since you started the confrontation you would probably be guilty of manslaughter, or murder 2.

"I am not sure what actually happened but the Stand Your Ground laws in Florida and other States are written and passed by legislatures democratically elected by the People and it is the responsibility of the People to oversee what legislatures do as our representatives and to ensure that laws are fair, respect civil rights, and are in the best interests of the People, so it is proper and good for disinterested citizens to debate the wisdom of the laws and their applications."

    Well, I tried my best.

That'd be great if that's what the bulk of this debate was actually about.

Pretty much sums up the logic of GZ's defenders

Of course . . . that is only when the RIGHT KIND OF GUY is on the receiving end . . .
    and
the RIGHT KIND OF GUY is sending the bullets
