Right now for a lunch special we are offering our patrons a large philly cheesesteak, fries and a drink for $ 10.99. Thank you. The Management.
Jake's has been one of my favorite places to eat in Houston for a long long time. I don't live in Htown anymore, so I miss it quite a bit, and go back nearly every time I am in town. It scares me a bit that it's changed hands, but it sounds like you're doing it right. I stopped in a couple of weeks ago while in town, and noticed a lot of changes, but didn't realized it was a different owner. The philly cheesesteak was just as it always is... fantastic. I hope you don't change a thing there. The place did have a lot more TVs and was kinda hoppin' for an evening. Last dude, Roger I think, always took care of me there, and it appears you are doing the same and then some with your customers. Sounds like the changes being made are good ones, but believe me when I say there are some who swear by that Philly cheesesteak. Don't go changin'. Being displaced, I've resorted to making my own at home when I start missing it, and though I make a pretty good one, it just doesn't compare. See you next time I'm in town.
Jake's Philly Steaks and Rockets Games Don't worry, we'll keep the old standard Philly Cheesesteak the same forever. The only thing we are doing on the food side is expanding the menu and using better, fresher, ingredients. Among other things, we have added a hamburger and a chicken sandwich (which we are told are some of the best found anywhere) and a few new variations on the cheesesteak including our new "Back-Home" Philly with mushrooms, grilled onions, and cheese whiz; and our new Buffalo Philly with spicy chicken in buffalo sauce, provolone cheese, and ranch dressing. We also have a full bar as of last Saturday, and we have expanded the appetizer menu, added a kids menu, and soon we will go from 7:00 A.M. until 2:00 A.M. seven days a week. In the morning we will be offering breakfast taco's where you can take your favorite Philly beef or chicken, choose your type of cheese, select your own ingredients (bacon, potatoes, egg, pico, etc.) and then have it wrapped in a fresh, flour tortilla. Thank you for you kind words and support. The Management.
Jake's Philly Steaks and Rockets Games Excellent. In a couple of weeks hopefully we'll be getting the bar the way we want it with extra TV's, seating, and a dart board. Thank you. The Management.
For what its worth, I would suggest NOT doing this 7 days a week, at least the until 2AM thing. Frankly speaking its going to add overhead to your day...any hour you have to pay staff and utilities plus adding par levels to your kitchen must be met with equal demand to keep it profitable. I would say the 2AM close time would be good thursday-saturday and ONLY then. I say this because if you do it Sunday-Sunday youre gonna start attracting a crowd I dont think you want. Limit your extended hours and you will keep the same clientele while adding their ability to hang out while further limiting your costs extension. But lets be frank here, What exactly will keep them around till 2? Youre generally a sports entertainment complex, you bring them in for sports, and cheesesteaks. Youre not Woodrows (across the street) nor are you a dance club. Oddly enough youre closing right when people at Woodrows are drunk and hungry and kicked out of the bar...might aswell stay open till 4AM Fri and Sat to try and rope their exiting crowd. In my professional opinion I feel that youre going to be trending on very rocky ground if you do a 7 day a week 2AM close. I have consulted with a few restaurants who wanted to do this, and the numbers never worked in its favor. IF you decide to do this, I recommend that you at least do a 1 month of a trial run of extended hours thurs-saturday and see what demand is. 1 month is long enough to see if people really want it...if not, youll be adding extra costs with little return. If you want to talk about this more, PM me through the board and I will happily do my best to see how I can at least lend an ear or eye to your business.
You should really just put "Jake's Management" in your sig line. For some reason after reading through this thread I just want to type The Management after my posts.
Cool. I'd like to point out that I address him as that, too. Thank you. The Unique Mexican Clutchfan Guy.
Rockets at Jake's Philly Steaks; Tonights Beer Special Tonignt's Beer Special: Sam Adams Winter Lager - $ 2.75 and keep the glass. Thanks, Jake's Management.
Jake's Philly Steaks and Rockets Games Why? Is there something wrong with trying to cater to Clutch Fans, broadcast Rocket's Games, and provide gametime specials? If this was offensive, we apologize. Thanks, Jake's Management.
Boo this man! Jake's is a fine establishment and deserves rep for how they have helped us during these rough moments of life.
Jake's Philly Steaks and Rockets Games Thank you...some of these threads are brutal; we don't mind the helpful criticism, but some don't even like how we post a "Thank you" or an explanation (this will probably open up a huge discussion). Thanks, Jake's Management.
Jake's Philly Steaks and Rockets Games I'd say......we've got your Rockets and Lakers tonight at 7; we've got you a beer special and keep the glass; we've got you a full bar as of 3 days ago; and we are trying to have our liquor distributor provide some freebies (free shots, etc.) for the Clutch Fans tonight. Free is good. If they can't like that, not much more we can do. Thanks, Jake's Management.
