ahh i didn't notice. yep, or that, get back the Charlotte 2nd maybe.
Either way, I think there's a fair deal somewhere. Good idea.
Maynor would be interesting, his value should be pretty low right now, so there'd be some extra assets, and he could be very cheap to resign.

What about ilyasova as our stretch 4? Barring the dream of aldridge/love, ilyasova is in the next tier of PFs that would be an upgrade to our current lineup, and could be had at a reasonable price. His awful start to the season makes him an ideal morey target and could make the bucks give up on him after giving him his big contract in the summer.

Last year he showed great potential. Strong rebounder, decent defender, hits the open 3. If you buy that his performance was not a fluke and he is just going through a funk now, his 9m contract is a decent bet. This year his shot is way off. With the emergence od Sanders the Bucks could cut him loose.

A deal that sends Ppat and/or Morris to the suns (if out of playoff hunt, willing to tank amd go for the future), and scola to bucks is one of many possible ways to get him. It would not make us a contender immediately, but is a calculated high-upside risk. At the very least an interesting alternative to the millsap scenarios.

well, you couldn't do that deal until the summer (because Scola can't be traded this season). At that point, we'll have a pretty strong idea about how fluky his last season was.

His shooting always seemed very fluky, under 2 attempts per game, under .800 free throws but way over .400 3s -- those stats looks weird and had to change.
But pure effort / rebounding shouldn't just vanish, and his shooting shouldn't take that kind of dive. I wonder what's going on.

    Good thinking.

I have been advocating for a Paul Millsap trade, but I agree that Ersan Ilyasova is a viable alternative. He had a terrific year last year and his early season struggles are likely a fluke. Also, he plays for a team whose head coach doesn't care one bit what his front office seems to want him to do, as evidenced by the lack of P.T. for Samuel Dalembert and Drew Gooden. Finally, you have to figure that the Bucks would be open to dumping that contract if they're not too high on the guy right now.

I don't think it's necessary to get other teams involved; this trade offer might work for the Bucks:

    To HOU:

    Ersan Ilyasova ($7.9 mil/year in 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15, & 2015-16; $8.4 mil team option in 2016-17)
    Joel Przybilla (minimum salary; filler)
    Marquis Daniels (minimum salary; filler)

    To MIL:

    Patrick Patterson
Daequan Cook or Cole Aldrich (expiring contracts)
either Marcus Morris, Terrence Jones, Donatas Motiejunas, or Royce White

This would be a salary dump for Milwaukee, although you have to figure that Patterson would get playing time, possibly whichever first or second year guy the Bucks end up with, as well.

I'd rather have Millsap, but Ilyasova's contract is a good one if he can continue to play at his 2011-12 level for a few more years. He's only 25 years old and doesn't turn 26 until mid-May 2013, so he's got a few more prime years left, obviously. And Millsap figures to command at least four years, $40 mil as a free agent this summer, probably more. Ilyasova's shooting percentages and rebounds/48 minutes in 2011-12 were outstanding.

Ilyasova has been having a terrible year - something like 8 ppg & 4 rpg. You're getting much more production from the players we have here already.

    Not worth his salary.

First post here. Love trade talk

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=cr3xhq8

    Rockets get: DeMarcus Cousins/Isaiah Thomas

    Kings get: Patterson/Aldrich/Jones

you could have twin towers with Asik/Cousins at the 4/5, but when we play smaller and faster 4s you could slide Cousins over to back up Asik and slide Smith and D-Mo over to guard the stretch 4s??

    How about Evan Turner?

Can play PG, SG, or SF, shoots the three ball and plays a versatile game. He's really coming along this season and he's only 24.

Get another growing young who can back up three positions as a 6th man, free up PT for the rooks and Morris. Still have plenty of assets and cap space to add a PF if none of the young bigs look like future stars.

Need a legit post player. Period. Preferably a power forward and keep the core of Lin, Harden, Parsons, and Asik.

Aldridge, Cousins would be great, but not easily attainable. Even if sac or portland wanted to deal, other teams could offer better packages than our pf rotation. Turner is pretty much untouchable from phillys point of view.

Pf and pg are the two areas we need to improve. Ilyasova, millsap, jefferson and smith are legitimate upgrades that could be had via trade or free agency at the pf position. Tougher to upgrade the pg spot, not many players better than lin are/will be in the market that we could reasonably bid for. Two that were available were lowry and dragic, but even they would not turn us into contenders. One of those two upgrades needs to be a star, top 5 in his position, for us to have a shot.

What is Patterson really worth? Patterson is role player that would start on less than 1/2 the teams in the league. The part I don't like is big for small. We need a back-up center that can catch and dunk, block shots, and board in the worst way. Lin and Harden both would look like a new players. I have no problem with Dougles taking us to th lottery THIS year. PLUS, smaller players are a lot less hard to find (ie Livingson, Fogg ect.) --> we don't need stars just soild two way players to play as a team to fill out the bench. Patterson and White both need to go but we need at lest one big back. Maybe even one some upside; 7' or bust.

Patterson is a good starter, and is generally worth at least a good starter in return, with incentives like picks or prospects paid either to or by the Rockets.

In a more specific sense, Patterson is worth far more than an Eric Maynor, a player who has been playing poorly since his return from a serious knee injury last season. The lift isn't there for Maynor and it's affecting his shot and his finishing around the rim, giving him a TS% of just 40%.

Just to give you an idea of how bad that is, Jeremy Lin and Toney Douglas both have a TS% of 47%, and it's hard to argue that either has been having an efficient start to the season themselves in terms of shooting.

Patterson is a soild player role player that has done well when given playing time, we should get a soild player back in theory. He is not a star and will never be a star so the player we get back should be the same. I just want it to be a big.

Poor TJones... having to play for the Kings is a fate worse than death. That said, I love that trade, especially Isaiah Thomas. But I doubt Kings go for it.

Vyacheslav Kravtsov is the answer to the low post. He did it over seas and fits as a DMtheGM type player. The Pistions don't need three centers.

    Patterson
    for
    Kravtsov ( Ctrl-V )

Makes both teams better going forward.

    (check) shot blocker
    (check) catch and dunk
    (so/so) Redounder
    (check) good contract

"If Kravtsov only shoots (dunks with power) when directly under the basket, limits his fouls and can finish the year with a defensive rating in the mid-90s it will be a great rookie year and he will have carved a role for himself on the team going forward. He isn't the long-term solution at the center position but that doesn't mean he couldn't be a successful contributor beyond this year. A big body, long arms and a bad-ass foreign accent is just what this team needs (more of)." - Sean Corp

Coming off the bench here in Houston is a perfect fit.
