I hate hack-a-x. But I don't blame the team that does it. I blame the guy who gets hacked. Make the damn free throws. You are a professional basketball player. Like I said earlier, the Lakers don't have a leader after Phil left. Kobe is not a leader. Howard is not a leader. Pau is not a leader. Mike Brown was not a leader. D'Antoni is not a leader. I agree with those who say that their only hope is Nash. Let's see what happens when he comes back. A lot depends on how Kobe responds to Nash's leadership. If he insists on being the Alpha, they are done. And I'll be happy.
There is no reason for any player who has been in the league as long as Dwight to not make more than 50% of his freethrows. Chuck Hayes had the ugliest free throw forms in the entire league at one point, and he has improved to 65% after one off-season of dedication to improvement. How Dwight still shoots below 50% I have no idea. All you have to do is go 1 for 2 everyt ime for hack-a-shaq to be ineffective.
the funny thing is that it's recent, he was a ~60% shooter for most of his career. It's weird. It's like he kept telling himself "I'm the new Superman" until he developed a mental block about free throws.
Could it be any more obvious that he loves LA? Might as well put down money on a LA-Heat finals, because he sure as hell won't let San Antonio, Memphis, or OKC beat them.
There's a Kobe quote making the rounds on fb about how the Lakers team went to see the new movie Lincoln, and he thinks a lot of the players didn't know who Lincoln was because they were genuinely surprised when he died at the end. DOUBLE FACEPALM OMG WOW LOLOLOLOL ROFLCOPTERZ
Really? That's horrible if true. I could understand if Gasol didn't, or maybe Nash or Sacre (Canadiens), but there's no excuse for the other guys.
he was joking, there was another tweet right after. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>For those not adept in the art of sarcasm, Kobe was joking about his teammates not knowing who Lincoln is</p>— Dave McMenamin (@mcten) <a href="https://twitter.com/mcten/status/277109575856054272" data-datetime="2012-12-07T17:57:25+00:00">December 7, 2012</a></blockquote> <script src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> It kind of leaves it unclear if the joke was just about them not knowing, or about the ending too.
I've seen it all now. On the last possession of the 1st half where Kobe is determined to NOT pass the ball, he gives it up to Dwight Howard for a corner 3 at the buzzer.
Are the Lakers going to turn it around? It's entirely possible that Nash is just too old and without the Suns medical staff will not play many games any more...and that Pau is just not a good fit.... I'm looking forward to the drama....
