He still struggles to go left and still isn't a good finisher. Had a great game the other night, but blew like 3 lay ups that he would have made last year. From what I seen, his handles has never been a problem, even though many people say he has terrible handles for a starting PG. He gets ripped because he doesn't protect the ball well and he gets flustered at ball defense.
I don't like that he had 5 assists in the 1st quarter last game then only ended up with 8. Unacceptable.
Well... It's not that straight forward. There were a couple of passes he made into the bigs where they got fouled and couldn't finish. A couple of other open looks where people missed shots. It happens. If you count his possessions/attacks he was quite efficient. Sure it would have been nice for him to get 10+ and he probably deserved them, but it is what it is.
1. He's currently shooting 56.6% at the rim, higher than LAST season (52.9%). 2. His Turnover rate (TO/100 possessions) have gone down 1/3 from 21.37 to 14.12, the lowest in his career so far. 3. His Turnover rate going down considering he is being forced Left MORE often belies this statement. 4. In the last 4 games he's shot 4/5 from 3-9 feet (teardrop range). 5. 19 and 8 is hardly timid.... His 3 point shooting over the last 4 games has improved to 50% (still a small sample size of course). His mid range jump shot still isn't there, but it is improving. Next...
Got it. I added to the list. 1. Can't finish when going to the rim. 2. He can't dribble the ball 3. He still can't go left 4. He doesn't have a teardrop shot 5. He's still timid out there in the court 6. Takes too many high-percentage shots close to the rim instead of taking and draining the lower-percentage shots.
Forgot about that. Added to the list: 1. 7. Doesn't pace himself well when raking up assists. He needs to even it out throughout the game instead of blowing his load in the 1st quarter.
Here is Lin's shooting coach Doc wrote about Lin, DocScheppler Chris. It's not a "new" shot. It's just reinforcing what we worked on last year. His arc should be 45 degrees and the rotation should be tight and synmetrical. When he shoots the ball in this manner, he is a great shooter. For example it'll be fun for you to watch the ball flight of his shots last year. When he shoots with confidence there's a nice confident, assertive wrist snap. When he's wishing the ball, his arc gets higher and the result is a short miss... I want him to get back to shooting with out care and to believe in his shot. Having a reliable jumpshot will open his game up even more. Defenses will just pack the paint if all he can do is score at the rim. He needs to improve his jumpshot badly. He's a hard worker, so I think it will come in time. I also think he is a dribble/rhythm shooter, and the fact that he doesn't have the ball in his hands a lot in this offense has probably really affected his shooting as seen in the lower fg%.
Oh I see how this works now. He spends too much time praying and not enough time practising. Maybe he is praying that God makes him a 'legitimate point guard' (in the words of the Jazz commentators) one day.
I don't know if you are being sarcastic. If not, I don't agree with you that he should use the time to practice instead of wasting on praying. His faith gives him strong inner strength and helped him endure all the difficult times he has been through. And I believe his toughness, his calmness on the court especially in crunch time has a lot to do with him having a strong faith. As far as I know, each day he spends about half an hour in the evening to study bible. That's not too much, is it? Especially it's in the evening when there is not much else to do. If studying bible could mentally get him ready for next day's game, that's like doing the homework for his play, wouldn't you say?
DUDE!!! Dont respond to rediculous nonsense like this.....sometimes you just have to say no to the troll!
You're being to sensitive. Didn't you read what he said "I see how this works" meaning this list is ridiculous. He's being sarcastic.
It was a while ago that I wrote that I think right before the season began, but I think it was in response to those posters, who keep calling themselves "real" Rockets fans, who keep saying not to mention what Lin did last year with the Knicks as an indication for what kind of player he is, so in response we shouldn't judge Harden by what he did with OKC by calling him a star, etc before he played yet.
I don't think there is any 4 game stretch all year that has proved anything, his 3pt shooting has been really good all year. He has really only had 1 bad 3pt shooting game this season(1-6) and a couple ok games (1-4), other than that he has been more than solid. I don't think he is going to keep up 42%+ all year, but he has definitely improved and I think he can finish around 37-40% for the season.
