The line last year was that there was no superstar. Now we have a superstar. Not only that, we have an Asian American who was super popular in NY. And still not as many fans come out as last year. How do you explain that?
This. The lack of local TV coverage is really killing attendance/awareness I think. That and ticking a lot of people off.
Hmm interesting I will have to focus on what you said in the first paragraph a little more to see if I agree with you. Yes Harden does have tunnel vision in transition & in the half court as well that is why I tend to tink he isn't the superior floor general. In regards to Lin what I have noticed about him is that in transition he is much less TO prone. Like MUCH less. Last year I would cringe when he would run the break. It seems like he never liked to make quick decision in transition & wanted the ball out of his hands asap. Lin has this whole thing where he reads where the defense gives him & then makes his decision. But in transition it is hard to read what the defense is giving you right so he would make poor decisions usually resulting in TO's. This year I have noticed that in transition he is very good at leading teammates into shots. And by that I mean he doesn't pass to his teammate so that the guy has to gather the ball & then get the bucket. He passes where his teammates are supposed to go. He tends to pivot his body towards where is teammate is supposed to go. He has been really good at threading the needle on the full court pass & the no look pass as well. Just some thoughts my friend.
More Soccer and Football fans. Houston is a sprawl lacking a true central transportation system ala NYC and Boston. Don't have the glitz and glamor of LA for people to brave the traffic.
Actually, according to the NBA attendance numbers, you ARE getting more seats sold than last year. How many are actually showing up is harder to say. That's not horrible given half the city can't even see the game...
Hoping to see Harden and Lin get a few more baskets in the second half...good chance Lin will get a double double....
I think coaches'a plan all along was to develop Asik's offenses and other players' offenses while JLin playing a playmaker to prolong JLin NBA career plus avoiding any injury. So we should all relax and see the whole team's development. Enjoy it while JLin practicing all his weakest skills. My 2 cents
Harden is a all-star player that is not a superstar...yet. A superstar is a player that is a household name. When Harden is selling his own shoes or is starring in a Nike commercial, get at me with the superstar. Until then the team needs to win. That's how it always is in this city, the people will fill the seats if they win...and blocking out nearly half the city from seeing the game on television is not going to help...
