Substitute "flashier" for "superior" and I would agree. I have watched all of their games against each other, and Wall has not outplayed Lin. The NBA TV analysts would agree with me.
He got offers from GSW, the Mavs and the Lakers. He took GSW because they offered him 2 years vs 1 year.
I find one thing lost in the discussion of Lin's potential is that: just because he was overlooked and he definitely deserved to be a starter in this league doesn't mean he will automatically without doubt become an all-star/superstar. That kind of logic is absurd. And that kind of expectation is not fair to Lin and will put unnecessary pressure on him. Will Lin continue to improve and gets better? For sure. Will he grow into an all-star material? Maybe, maybe not. Anything conclusive now risks being wrong.
in the last 3 games lin has shot over 50% from the field, scored around 13 points game and has played way above average defense....what 7 assists or something like that.....hes playing pretty well.... hi numbers will continue to grow and by the end of the season he will be a 15 -10 guy...that plays excellent d and inspires others around them to play d.....everyone should just relax when it comes to Lin
You know, when you say something like "upside," you are talking about what a player's best case scenario. Well, he's already had a stretch where he is playing like a shoo-in All Star, so there's your "upside," as his best case scenario is at least that since he's already done it. Whether he can go beyond that (i.e. into the GOAT discussion) remains to be seen.
This is true sadly, other forums would've locked some of the crappy threads and banned some trolls by now.
I suggested long time ago that Clutch needs to create a giant Lin thread on the first page so that we don't see so many other Lin threads flooding the forum and it would be easier for all the Lin fans and Lin haters to exchange opinions. Please support this idea and go to the following thread and comment to let Clutch know. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=229156
I feel this forum will be much better and more easily readable if we get some moderators. As far as I can tell, Clutch is the only one. The board is completely inundated and cluttered, and I'm sure there are enough posters who would be interested in assuming mod duties.
Neither are elite. But Wall really can't hold Rubio's jock strap. Rubio I think has the potential to be one of the better players at his position I adore him to be honest with you. Rubio is one of the better defenders in the NBA. His passing game is on point & his ability to run an offense is impressive. He is TO prone & his ability to score the ball is a problem that I think he can improve upon over time. He is young though & will get better same with Wall (the government needs to fly him out of Washington).
Rubio's defense and playmaking are elite, but he really needs to at least be able to finish around the basket at an average level to not be a liability on offense. He is almost Asik-level bad when it comes to making layups.
Lin doesn't seem to have the hand size of the more elite pgs, but I could be wrong. Guys like Westbrook and Rose can palm the ball with ease. That takes away and limits finishing and handling abilities.
LOL Yes he is really poor at that. And he is a liability on offense to be frank all last season at least. Minny's offense was better with him off the floor than with him on. But Defensively Minny was a lot better with Rubio on the court than with him off. Like I said I love ricky & I think he will become a better player. If anybody is close to being elite between Rubio & Wall I would say definitely Ricky.
That's not what the thread is about. Once again, we are talking "upside" here, which means best case scenario. We have already seen what his best case scenario at least is. Duh. Reading comprehension FtW.
He can palm a ball since high school (but you may or may not right about hand size-cant find data) I just think that anytime you compare him in any way with the elite the discussion becomes tangential. I also dont think much of Rubio and am pretty high on Wall 's potential. I highly doubt any of these guys will be a top 5 PG(my definition of elite) Rose WB Kyrie Rondo CP3 DWill TP all going to be around for quite some time.
