My S3 just got updated to it this morning. Any thoughts on it? Things have a slightly different look. Best addition: pressing the menu button now brings up the url address bar (you had to hold it down for a couple seconds before). Worst addition: the left and right edges of a webpage now control zoom, so if you want to scroll through a page, be sure to avoid the page edges.
Update for all is where Apple has the edge over Android. Each carrier wants to add it WORTHLESS bloatware to each version. Samsung has nice Touchwiz features and but you update using Custom ROMS, you lose those.
thats just r****ded. I even distinctly remember checking for a system update a couple weeks ago and it said my system was up to date.
4.1.1 is Jellybean, bro. The biggest difference in Jellybean is the smoothness of the UI. Should be 4.2.1. Should've gotten 4.2 a while back. My Galaxy Nexus just got 4.2 OTA yesterday... awaiting 4.2.1.
[off topic] What's with the system names? Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich...how do you know which is the latest? I'll stick with numbers.
You might know this since you listed them alphabetically, but each new version starts with the next letter in the alphabet. Jelly Bean is the latest, and the next major version will start with K (presumably named Key Lime Pie). They have version numbers too, but tasty names for releases can be fun (especially with speculation on the new name). Brand new Android merchandise too. edit: Not just Android that does this either. Ubuntu follows a similar scheme, and I'm sure other releases have a similar naming scheme.
And this is why I recommended people get the S3 over the EVO LTE. Samsung did it right this time around by making the phones basically the same on all the carriers. No special form factors or phones for different carriers. The Phones are nearly identical on all the carriers. The S3 will be able to get more accessories made and updates will come out quicker because of the uniformity. I have a feeling it'll be a loooong while before the EVO LTE sees an update . Google now feature is cool but man its' a battery hog!
