Have not been, but I have nothing against visiting beautiful scenic places. I bet you can get a lot of nice photos. But I have spent a lot of time talking/conversing with people in Canada, and it is always quite dispiriting, because however many misconceptions/misperceptions we here in Amurka may have about Canada/Canadians, they have twice as many about us and our nation. The difference of course is that as far as we here are concerned, Canada is basically 'the attic', not really thought much about, and when we DO think about it, it's usually something like 'Hm, nice enough place, weird to be so anal about French, and super high taxes, etc'. But from their perspective, the level of animosity and arrogance on their part is astounding. It is as though they are deliberately trained from birth to have an unshakeable belief that the United States is a miserable ugly nation, and that they are far superior in every way. They LOVE to tout their health care system and they love to denigrate capitalism. No system is perfect, so every criticism always has some grain of truth in it, but their mindset, from what I have seen, goes beyond common sense and diverges into mindless dogma. Shrug. I suppose the people here in Amurka who have been similarly brainwashed would feel right at home amongst them.
man canadian and a kobe fan? Tough going. Next thing you will tell me you are left handed, black, handicapped, and lesbian. gee whiz
lol only in Texas would I get ripped on for being either. I suppose this forum counts too, but w/e. It is what it is. FYI Nash is my favorite player. I respect Kobe's game, as everyone should. That's about it. I've never met the guy, and have no desire to ever do. But over the years he's won me over as a basketball fan.
not impressed with THort. went to one in Waterloo (Ontario) during the summer a year ago, and asked for an iced coffee. blank stares. finally, a younger kid behind the counter professed to understand what I wanted, got a cup, filled it with ice, and then poured in steaming hot coffee. it was kinda iced, kinda coffee, but mostly meh. lots of other cool stuff about canada tho, and I agree with the comments about Vancouver- great place. hot asian chicks, and the best sushi on the continent.
texxx hating--- Try Montreal or Vancouver first. The women there. nuff said. Not Canada's fault you chose to visit the place that most ironically resembles, well, Texas (but colder).
What about Bret "The Hitman" Hart? He's the only Canadian that every made Canada relevant to me and view it in a positive light.
You just reminded me of a few more contrasts with Houston. Finding spicy food here in Calgary is almost impossible. You almost have to beg the people in the Thai restaurants to make it spicy. And although this has nothing to do with your comment, driving here is totally different. Houston drivers are too aggressive for their own good, and Calgary drivers are too passive for their own good. And I don't get the whole "Alberta beef" thing. I've had a few good steaks here, but all the best steaks I've ever had have been in Texas.
