I do appreciate your bringing it to my attention how this has nothing to do with Pau Gasol or concern for the Rockets, and is just a veiled Jeremy Lin thread like so many others. That's my bad for assuming people actually were concerned about Pau Gasol as a Houston Rocket, and cared about the Rockets in general, instead of simply caring about moving Jeremy Lin in a deal. I didn't know.
Interesting theory, that I haven't been reading a thread that is only a few weeks old and that I've been frequently posting in. So is the idea that the Rockets could and should trade Jeremy Lin and garbage for Pau Gasol any less ridiculous now than it was 10 days ago? What about two weeks? How far back would you suggest I go before it stops sounding ludicrous?
Oh, not that anybody minds these repeated attempts to turn a thread about Pau Gasol into another stealth Jeremy Lin trade thread. Far from it. That's always welcome.
The op floated a scenario about trading for gasol and included lin in his idea... i dont think it was ever about trading lin but has always been about landing pau... Its hard to land hin without lin or asik who are our big contracts... we woild have to give up our entire bench and depth to land pau without lin(or asik)... I would love to add pau without losing lin or significant prospects, but its impossible... a 3 teamer with possible the bucks or someone to land a servicable pg while losing lin is as cheap as pau woild come... And dont think that morey wont trade lin after barely aigning him... he smartly did so with ariza, and if he doesnt start improving i feel morey will search avenues before his value decreases more... And by no way am i a loh or lof... im a rockets fan and am simplying discussing the topic.... Dont turn it into a lin arguement...
You are again incorrect sir... He cost 5mill against les pocket .. He costs 8.3 against rockets salary cap...
The only way Morey ever takes on Gasol at this stage is via an amnesty bid next summer. http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/...l-los-angeles-lakers-playing-tendinitis-knees
Lol if it is possible I'd like to just delete this thread I made. Don't know what has happened to Gasol. He is averaging 6 points the last 4 games I think.
he never could defend West types. i think it will be hilarious to watch him defend Bosh/LeBron if they got to the Finals with this roster.....
I think the rockets should do whatever it takes to get Pau Gasol. Pau is not the problem in LA, not by a longshot. Pau + harden is a core. I am not sure what the lakers want out of a deal, but they usually don't make trades unless they get the best player in the deal and that would require James Harden. If the lakers are just after depth and addition by subtraction Lin + parson wouldn't be a bad deal.
Do not worry. I still think he is serviceable. Just not the star he once was. He equals a two year rental till he starts breaking down entirely.
Yes it would be! We are not a team that is ready right now - basically all our players need at least a year or two to develop (yes also Harden) - Pau is old and on the decline. Yes, he would make us a lot better and a player like him would be the perfect fit next to Harden - but the timing is not right. And we would give up major pieces in our rebuilding process that have the potential to be a star. If we can get Pau for cheap, sure - at worst he is a huge expiring contract next season. But don't give up one of our core players for him. Try to get a star level player that is under 28 years old - and if we can't do that get young players with potential. Getting Pau would mean two playoff years (probably wont get out of e second round) with a big question mark after that.
There is a huge list of power forwards who are all better than Pau Gasol at this stage of their careers and his. West is on it.
